The NCAA track and field championships are this week in Austin. Miami has three qualifiers: Carmen Riano in the women’s steeplechase, Charlie Harders in the men’s steeplechase, and Ava Nuttall in the women’s 10,000 meters. Harders’ opening round is on Wednesday, while Riano and Nuttall open on Thursday.

Carmen finished second at the East Regionals. This is her second trip to Nationals.
Was cool to see her actually leading the main pack halfway through before dropping back.

Yeah. I think here strategy was to set a slow pace as the leader until the halfway point when the Olympic class runners kicked it into gear and then hang somewhere in the top 40% at the finish. It worked!
Does she get an all-American designation for her finish?
