Let’s be specific. 31-0.
It’s the greatest Regular season in MAC history.
The First Four was a blessing. It was a celebration of showing they belong in the tournament. Nothing about this game will detract from it.

Absolutely right. Will never forget that experience, but one could tell they were tired (outside of Suder).
Great season, wish it didn’t have to end so soon. Would love for Travis to announce tonight that this is just the start and he’s accepting the extension.
Terrific season, but let’s not compare this team to the 1999 team. This team was incredibly young, especially in the NIL era. This year’s team should be looked at like the 1992 team. Got us back to the dance, but the best is yet to come. As long as we can bring guys back, and grab a couple portal guys, we should have a much better team next year. IMO, making sure Byars is back is job one, but only if we get a tougher Byars. He has unlimited upside, but needs to add 10 pounds and toughness. Dude has all the ability in the world, but needs to replace the fade away layups with dunking on motherfuckers!
I don’t have the research ability to prove this, but I’m going to assume that Tennessee is the first 6 seed ever to lead the SEC in scoring defense and 3 point defense.
17 points below our previous lowest offensive production for the year.
That tells the story.
I did not see the game.
Was it their D, poor shot selection, tired legs or a combination of everything?
Miami finished 32-2 a great season. Greatest in Miami history. A season to be proud of. Now let’s hope most if not all who can return do starting with the coaching staff!
I don’t question Brant’s toughness at all. Needs to get stronger and add some weight
Brant has the tough in him, He proved that this year in the number of times he attacked the rim and got manhandled in the process.
He just needs to do the same thing to his body that Wally did when he was here.
Brant needs to use his legs more shooting FTs.
Their D was really, really impressive. Having bigs with the speed to defend the perimeter like guards was something I’m pretty sure we hadn’t faced before.
I think we agree for sure. I love the kid and his game. He does have a tendency to fade away at times when going to the rim. Definitely think 10-15 pounds would give him confidence to always take it to guys. Like I said above, our guys are young, and the sky’s the limit.
You can tell they respected us with how different the first five minutes were from the rest of the game. They let us do our thing and we got a few early threes, then the pressure kept us off our game. No easy drives into the lane, no breathing room on the perimeter for those deep threes. Was a good defensive game plan that worked for them, Gillespie going off sealed our fate.
Couldn’t be prouder of this team. We all would’ve preferred another crazy win and a chance for more, but this was a good team and a bad matchup. Shit happens, we showed the world who we are all season and against SMU. Glad I got to see it live even if it was disappointing.
Yep. Here’s where a non-conf game against a team like UT could be beneficial during the NCAA Tournament. Might’ve made a difference, hard to guess.
Miami needs a mobile big man who can stop oppo’s scoring in the paint. Killed Miami vs UMass and hurt Miami today.
Really proud of how this team has brought back Miami basketball. It was great for both the students and alums. My problem is still with the NCAA who pushed us into the play in game. While it was a great night and hopefully proved a point, we should have been straight into the first round. It would have been a different game today. Barnes and Gillespie said as much in sideline interviews. The SMU game let TN know they had to come and play and extend the defense into us making uncomfortable shots. And they were conscience of our back cuts then as well. Without that game there is no way they come that hard on D. I’m not sure we win with their size and the way they shot the ball, particularly Gillespie but I think it’s a single digit game at worst.
Love and Honor boys. Let’s win the MAC tourney next year and run it back!
Yea, a lotta the same, team was great this year, coach was great. In the game today, we started good then went cold , refs let them play which wasn’t good for us. At the end of the day, we didn’t hit shots but they pushed us out of our normal range. Rocky Top deserves some credit, we played hard and just got beat!
Great season, great outlook going forward!
Super unfortunate draw. Tennessee is perfectly set up to nullify the things we do well. Any of the other 6 seeds and even a team like Virginia would have been a better matchup.
They were defending close way out beyond the 3 point line, which kept us from getting any clean catch and shoot looks. At the same time, we couldn’t punish them for it because they were long and athletic enough to cut off the back cuts and roll men and Suder was the only guy who could get any dribble penetration.
Disappointing way to go out, but the SMU win had already validated ourselves and was a generational experience in and of itself. On net, probably better to win in the First Four and then have a game like this than to advance directly to the first round and lose by like 10.
This was a type of game where having a healthy Ipsaro would have been huge.
There will be a day, probably not too far in the future, where I’ll reflect back on this season and how unique and magical it was. The streak, the national attention, the heart attack games and sold out Millett. Dayton a couple nights ago.
That day isn’t today yet for me. Just crushed we went out on our backs like that.
This was such an enjoyable team and season. Just bummed it’s over tonight.
