It will be interesting to see how this goes for the NCAA:
The NCAA says the order is unlawful for three main reasons. The order (1) violates the Commerce Clause by prohibiting state action that burdens interstate commerce or regulates conduct beyond the state’s borders. "A State may not enact laws that seek to reshape competition nationwide by conferring advantages on in-state institutions at the expense of out-of-state competitor; (2) undermines the NCAA’s First Amendment rights to “purporting to provide Ohio institutions with legal cover to maintain their NCAA membership while simultaneously flouting the association’s rules”; and (3) violates state law as the order is unlawful because DeWine lacks authority to order Ohio colleges and universities to roster ineligible athletes.

FUCK THE NCCA A BUNCH OF LOSERS
Honest question, would any of you care if this didn’t affect Woolfork?
I’m very much a fan of organizations being able to set their own rules. If Miami was the only school affected by this than I doubt DeWine would lift a finger
They can set their own rules but that can’t be applied in a discriminatory fashion.
We don’t have a player by that name.
I would. Screw the NCAA. They’ve known for close to 20 years that the old way wouldn’t work for much longer, and instead of trying to fix it proactively, they’re intentionally making things as fucked up as possible to justify federal legislation that gives them everything they want.
Demand for jury trial? In a case that seeks only declaratory and injunctive relief? What on earth?
I’m just an unfrozen career clerk for a state trial court. Perhaps these fancy $1700 lawyers the NCAA has know something I don’t.
Never know don’t waive anything LOL….
NCAA president Charlie Baker said the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Ohio, was an “extraordinary step” designed to prevent DeWine from taking an action that would make it “impossible for all schools to compete on a level playing field.”
Whatever credibility Charlie Baker and the NCAA had left just completely disappeared with the above statement.
I don’t understand- why would the NCAA not want student athletes to play? Isn’t that kind of a bad look for them?
NCAA’s never seen a bad look they didn’t want to be theirs
Yeah this is a step I didn’t think even they would take…
What… he thinks some schools may not have any kids from 2022? So no schools should?
THE NCAA SHOULD RENAME ITSELF FAUDA!! FAUDA IN ARABIC MEANS CHAOS OR MESS!!
So if Woolfolk is deemed eligible, and then the suit against Dewine is successful and he’s declared ineligible, we wouldn’t have to forfeit the games he played in, would we?
My guess is we won’t play him until cleared, but if he is eligible when he plays, NCAA would be hard pressed to take away wins, as Miami is playing an eligible player.
That’s my hope/thought.
