NCAA 5x5 Rule

The big downsides here are losin’ the flexibility that came with redshirts and waivers, plus the fact that an age-based system could end up bein’ kinda unfair for some athletes. Then ya got the whole non-retroactive part of it, and there’s probably gonna be legal fights over it too. Put it all together, and it could really limit opportunities for certain kids, especially the ones still sittin’ in that current eligibility window, so they’re gonna have to plan things out real careful. That bein’ said, there’s definitely some positives too. A system like this could make eligibility rules a whole lot simpler and easier for everybody to understand. Schools wouldn’t have to deal with as many waiver situations, and athletes might get a more level playin’ field overall. It could also help keep older players from stickin’ around too long and open up more roster spots for younger recruits comin’ in. On top of that, clearer rules could cut down on confusion, speed up decisions from the NCAA, and make long-term planning easier for coaches and programs. So while there’s some real concerns, there’s also folks up north who’d say it could bring a little more structure and fairness to college sports in the long run.
