I waited to post this until now as I knew it would otherwise be buried. Miami’ WBB is playing today at 10am ET against OU in the MAC Semis. Miami just lost to OU in the last regular season game in what I thought was Miami’s worst performance of the year. So not only is this our biggest MAC rival, it is a revenge game. I’m not going to post more stats etc. Game notes below:
Revenge is a brunch dish. Go Miami.
Time for some payback
9-8 Miami at first timeout. Couple back to back turnovers by Gonzalez and Singer hurt but Miami dominating the offensive glass. Missed some open looks too. Keep doing what we are doing and we will win.
Miami on 11-0 run. Miami timeout. Miami ball. 19-8.
Just tuned in, 18-8 Miami!
Ummm Glenn Box is not wearing his iconic fashion statement hood to the side???
Drown the cats.
24-13 Miami after one quarter. Miami dominating the boards15-6. 4 offensive boards. Miami 6-11 on threes. Only bad thing 7 turnovers. Need to cut that down significantly. 7 different Miami players with a turnover.
Rough couple possessions still up 9
So what exactly happened in Athens over the weekend? These look like two totally different teams.
Okay worries eased now ![]()
Miami went on an almost 3 minute scoring drought due to turnovers but have righted the ship 36-20. Media timeout
Tretter 9, Devries 9, Scalia 8, Gonzalez 6. So balanced scoring. Singer who led the team with 25 last game hasn’t scored, which shows the balance on this team. OU does have 6 steals and again, too many Miami turnovers with 10. That amount is unacceptable to Glenn.
48-24 Miami at the half. Some will say “it’s becuase Miami is 9/16 from 3”, and they are. But that ignores why Miami is winning. It is because of relentless defense. OU is a very good 3 point shooting team. They are shooting 17% from three. Not because they are cold. Because they almost never have an open look. This is Glenn Box basketball. Relentless D, ball movement on offense.
This game has been lovely to watch! Show no mercy in the second half😤
The one thing Miami needs to clean up as I have mentioned is turnovers. Miami has 12. Although one happened right at the end as the clock was running out Singer tried to thread a pass that was intercepted.
Tretter with 12, Scalia 11, Devries 9, Gonzalez 9, Singer 3 Jurjo 2 Sakano 2. So 7 of 8 players who played for Miami scored.
