MIAMI WBB HOSTS GEORGIA SOUTHERN-GAME NOTES AND GAME THREAD!

Part of the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge. Miami beat SBC Coastal Carolina to begin the year. Saturday they welcome Georgia Southern, who is another tough challenge and better than Coastal. Of note, Tamar Singer is 6 assists away from tying the Miami single season assist record. As she averages 7.7 assists a game, should she hit her average she sets the new record and still will have 8 regular season games to play.

Georgia Southern is 17-5 overall, 10-2 in Sun Belt action and is tied for second in the conference standings. The Eagles feature a balanced offensive attack, with four double-digit scorers, led by Destiny Garrett (15.5 ppg.), McKenna Eddings (13.4 ppg.),Kishyah Anderson (13.4 ppg.) and Shanti Simmons (11.3 ppg.). Georgia Southern is a good team and would be a top third MAC team.

Going to be one of the better teams we will see this season. It’s on ESPN+ for those interested in seeing a great match-up!

And for those that don’t know, Miami is on an 11 game winning streak. Coach Box really needs your support for those who can attend Saturday in person. And don’t forget to support this team financially. Every dollar truly does count for the women.

Miami is 75 in NET rankings while Ga So sits at 76.

So you are saying it is two evenly matched teams!

Just made a contribution to the women’s program- lets all show some “ financial love “ to the progeram

Overall, Miami excels in defense and shooting efficiency, while Georgia Southern has a more potent offense and has been battle-tested against better competition. Miami’s metrics may be inflated by a weaker schedule, but their defensive prowess stands out.

In direct comparison, Miami (OH) shows higher scoring output at home (75.6 PPG) compared to Georgia Southern’s road scoring (67.2 PPG), while Miami’s home defense is stingier (54.4 PAPG) than Georgia Southern’s road defense (58.8 PAPG). Miami’s undefeated home streak suggests stronger consistency in familiar environs, whereas Georgia Southern’s road results include more variability, including a loss to a competitive opponent.

Overall, Miami excels in defense and shooting efficiency, while Georgia Southern has a more potent offense and has been battle-tested against better competition. Miami’s metrics may be inflated by a weaker schedule, but their defensive prowess stands out.Prediction for the Game Outcome (Miami (OH) Home vs. Georgia Southern on Feb 7, 2026)To predict the outcome, I used a combination of SRS (which accounts for margin of victory and SOS) and recent performance trends. The SRS difference (Georgia Southern +0.72 over Miami) suggests a slight edge to GS on a neutral court.

However, home-court advantage in women’s college basketball typically adds 3-4 points to the home team (based on historical data across Division I).

Adjusting for home (add ~3.5 to Miami), the expected margin is Miami by ~2.8 points. Factoring in Miami’s superior home defense (allowing just 54.4 PPG in last 5) against GS’s road offense (67.2 PPG), and GS’s weaker defense (DRtg 90.4) facing Miami’s home scoring (75.6 PPG), this tilts further toward Miami.Predicted Outcome: Miami (OH) wins 72-68. This is a close contest, but Miami’s defensive efficiency and home dominance should prevail over GS’s offensive edge, especially given GS’s road variability (including a recent loss).

Ball State and NIU were road games for Miami.

Blame AI!

Unfortunately very sparse crowd at Millett. Girls deserve better support.

21-15 Miami after the first quarter but GSU is very quick. Something not only Miami guards but the frontcourt players as well have to adjust to. GSU very good with head fakes as well but Miami has more size and is using it.

28-23 at the 4 minute timeout but GSU going to the line to shoot 2. Miami is 2-9 from the field second quarter.

38-34 Miami at the half. Tamar Singer has now set the Miami single season record for assists. Currently at 176. She has 7 today. Tretter with 12. Miami had a horrible shooting second quarter.

Miami really being dominated on the boards. 22-11. Miami has the lead because GSU has turned the ball over 12 times. Miami only 4 turnovers.

GSU started out the 3rd quarter on a 7-0 run to take the lead. Miami has come back and leads 50-45 and GSU took a TO. Tretter has 20, Scalia 14, Devries 12.
