Miami hockey has become a joke. Any current players deserve to be back? Still hopeful with new staff and future recruits but will most of them still come ?
Money saving idea, drop hockey and convert Goggin to a basketball arena. Costly but much less than a new arena.
Kind of ruins the fallacy that Miami canāt be successful in football and basketball because we have hockey and canāt financially support all three.
Sure hockey is bad, historically bad even, but Miami hasnāt stopped spending money on the program.
Give the new coach a chance. Been here since April. Has a bunch of excellent recruits coming. This will likely take until year 3 like hoops.
Itās obviously a huge challenge for this new staff to convince the better players to come to a perennial loser that we have become. I wish him luck of course, but temper my confidence as we expected the same after Berg was hired.
Does NIL apply to hockey? I would assume it does. If so, how is it so hard to get good players. With our hockey alum we could get funds quickly Iād imagineā¦
If you give me more notice in the future (like a week or more) I may be able to help you out. I have two season tickets and since HockeyChica and I are both media and get in that way, we often give our tickets away to friends and relatives.
Right in front of my seat. We were just talking about that last night because I was speculating if Shlaineās injury was serious he might get helicoptered to UC like Weber was.
The ASU parents were saying toward the end of the game that he was going to be OK and that it was his lower back.
It was a weird play and Iām glad heās going to be alright. He was in a ton of pain.
Thank you Bonk. I will try to reach out to
you sooner next time. Do you expect there to be any more sellout the remainder of the season? I was surprised that ASU sold out given the way the season has been going.
No problem.
It wasnāt sold out. It was One Miami Weekend, when the president buys all of the available tickets and gives them to staff.
Itās a noble idea overall but they should hold some back IMO. I needed seven for Friday and ran into the same issue.
They do open up unclaimed seats from visitorsā and Miami parentsā allotments on Thursday afternoons, so check back then. Thatās how I landed the seven I needed.
The president only pays for what are claimed by faculty and staff so anything they would hold back that then went unsold would be lost revenue for athletics.
Miamiās core fans are extremely dedicated, thankfully.
The Saturday crowd was 2,257, which is above average by 2025 standards but far from capacity. So obviously plenty still went unused.
Unused but still claimed by someone. Itās the freebie downside, people will take it even if they have no difinitive intention to use it.
It would be nice if people who claimed tickets and didnāt use them could be removed from future opportunities.
So they track claimed vs. scanned. I was wondering about that.
Yeah, either use the tickets or donāt claim them so they can be made available to the public, for better or worse.
