For those that folllow this train wreck, is there SOME progress being made?
He thought to himself:
First year mediocre rebuild year or⌠get national attention breaking records
Not in my opinion
Noreen looks so sad in the press conference
It felt like we were making progress after that North Dakota series then we hit the wall of playing Denver then the top 3 teams in the NCHC in a row and it hasnât gone so well for us (although Iâm not sure the results would really be that different if we were playing 6,7&8 if weâre being honest)
Weâve been inconsistent at best, at worst weâve beenâŚ.
He talked in his Wednesday presser that we were making progress. Well, guess what? So is every other team!
Forget the CCHA or NCHC. If this doesnât get better SOON, we need to look at the ACHA. Thatâs Club Hockey, in case you didnât know.
Just awful
As said on VFTG weâre looking to have possibly 20 new players next season so itâs going to be a vastly different team that hopefully doesnât have the huge mental block that comes when this team plays an NCHC team
Moulton said in the press conference that they practiced hard against each other all week but when it came to playing against someone in a different jersey all that went out the window
I think the issue with that is in practice they are playing the worst team in the NCHC. In actual games they get to play against good teams
It was really bad before nodak. I think we just caught them while they were struggling
Here is to Sat.nite. Fri was an excellent crowd Sat should be also.
Yeah I used to think that moving to the CCHA might allow us to be build our program back quicker, and get us more competitive to give the students and alums a few home game wins sometimes. Now not so sure that would help muchâŚ
I do not buy the conference change argument. We cannot compete against anyone, including the Lindenwoods and LIUs of the world. Just need to turn over the roster and clean house
Still would submit that the bar is much higher in NCHC to get back to being moderately competitive (.500) team. My thinking was that changing to CCHA would be a quicker route to that state of reasonable competitiveness.
The response of most of the Board was that we needed to stay in NCHC to recruit the best players and we should want to stay in the best college conference.
Has Miami ever been dead last in Pairwise? I assume the answer has to be no. Real chance if Mercyhurst wins a game before us at some point.
At this point, things wonât get better this season. Our roster is our roster and our team is our team. Thankfully things canât get worse next season (thought that was true last season, butâŚ) but if we donât start to see real improvement, Miami is going to have to take a hard look at the program and figure something out.
The landscape of NCAA sports has changed a lot in the last 5 years (hell, in the last year), and hockey is pretty unique, but both football and basketball have found ways to be top of the MAC. Hockey may never return to the glory days of almost 20 years ago with multiple frozen fours. We may have missed our window to be a top team with Big Ten, North-East, and Michigan/Minnesota schools, but we should definitely be as competitive as Bowling Green and Omaha as a worst case. If we canât do that, some real tough decisions may need to be made.
This blows, but Iâve liked what Iâve seen from Noreenâs resume and recruiting to turn things around to at least the middle of the pack of the NCHC within a few years.
Imo a lot of the abysmal play this season is based on the mismatched system versus personnel, Noreen wants a fast/open style (which is where the NHL has been trending) but doesnât have the right players or raw talent to do much now. Itâs like trying to play an air raid offense in football with a flexbone option team.
I am looking for two tickets to tonightâs (Sat Feb. 1st) hockey game against ASU. Do any of you know whether there are scalpers outside of Goggin pregame selling tickets? The university website for ticket sales says itâs sold out.
Thanks!
Yup.
Back to lurking.
No scalpers but you might find some on resale sites like stub hub if you want to ensure a seat. They are selling standing room only and you can take an empty seat towards the end of the first period, there are likely to be some.
The route to reasonably competitive may indeed be quicker but the ceiling for success is also much lower.
