MIAMI V RUTGERS GAME WEEK!

UNLV is a game we can win if our secondary stops being fucking terrible but after that it’s a month straight of dogshit opponents. We weren’t going to win the Big Ten anyway so move on.

Everyone is complaining about the INT, but it was very good defense by Rutgers. The corner faked like he was in man coverage and then turned around quickly into zone coverage. Finn made a good throw, but he misread the coverage. It came at a bad time and was a game changing play, but credit to Rutgers on disguising the coverage.

Isn’t misreading coverage by definition a bad throw? Also there were three defenders right where he threw.

Loss definitely wasn’t as bad as the score shows

Lose by one or lose by fifty, it’s still a loss.

Sure they looked better but the buzz is definitely killed now! Same old story as every year.

I’m not disagreeing, but this statement, in particular the word “actually”, says a lot about the Chuck Martin era of Miami football. Sad.

As someone else pointed out, Ohio passed the ball on a 3rd and long situation, then went for it on 4th and short to retain possession of the ball against WVU. In OOC games, I think Chuck would rather punt the ball away on 3rd and long than to show this kind of aggressiveness.

I’m surprised more hasn’t been made of Chuck’s decision to punt it away from midfield on a 4th and 3 with 12 minutes left down 2 touchdowns after a horrible 3rd and 1 play call. I think you can argue punting was the right decision, but I had a bad feeling Rutgers would drive for a TD whether we punted or turned it over on downs, so why not go for retaining possession and try to score a TD to get it to a one possession game. May not have worked, but I would have liked the aggressiveness.

..and not to belabor the point too much, but when faced with 3rd and long late in that OU game, they didn’t just run a bubble screen or slant, they ran a wheel route (was it w the tight end?), an aggressive play that caught WVU off guard.

Hey I recognize you Max-you are The Mediocre Miami Fan!
