We’re shooting over 80% from inside the arc.
All three Miami freshman who have played in double digits
Walk ons now in
109-65 final
Really excited to see this team play some true peer schools. Wright on the 16th and BG on the 30th are circled on my calendar.
Steele didn’t seem particularly pleased but maybe just intentionally downplaying it
Despite the blowout, in what you can call the meaningless stats department, IUE has shot free throws and 3 pointers at a higher percentage than Miami.
Steele commented after the game on shot selection. I’m guessing he isn’t to thrilled with 8/33 from three. 24%.
Thirty-plus attempts from behind the arc is Steele’s brand of ball, and that won’t change. But shooting 24% against a physically inferior team that can’t close out as hard a good MAC team will makes this a mixed result if you’re looking ahead to where they’ll need to be to beat Akron and Kent.
There were a lot of open 3’s that were bricked. Suter had one that was nowhere close. We had the big men taking some of those shots, including the last one by Robbins that had defenders beside him, though it ended up going off the back of the rim. The second half seemed like the players lapsed into street ball and were chucking it up without concern for the outcome of the game, as it had already been decided. Same thing was going on on defense, where they were jumping the passing lanes and leaving the other team unguarded when they missed. But without seeing the stats, it seemed like they did end up with a bunch of steals.
I know the competition hasn’t been all that alluring but I’m thrilled to see the team with a strong record so far. Hopefully they’ve learned enough to continue the performance
You have to win 7 in a row before you can win 11 in a row.
Totally agree that winning is better than losing. I’m just itching to get a good measure on this team. We know Akron is good. BG appears to have some real fight. Kent is certainly competitive. I want to stake our claim as well.
Ultimately its the 3 nights in Cleveland that will define this team. Still have nightmares over the last 5 minutes of last year.
=> I think the days of anyone camping out at Millett are long gone. Students now get their tickets online at Miami. I guess if there is a big enough interest the students would have to hit refresh on the website over and over once the student tickets are released like the way someone does trying to buy concert tickets.

You would have to camp out to be front row of the student section
=>Sick.
Ear infection?
The Wright State game is going to be good barometer I think.
I think Steele’s perturbation was the shot selection of those threes, not necessarily the number although against an inferior team with inferior size, we should have been looking to get in the paint more and more to the line. If you look at the stats, IUE took more FT than us. That shouldn’t happen in a matchup like this. Speaks perhaps to the sloppiness of the defense at times as well.
