MIAMI V. COLORADO

Singer and Scalia back to back threes and Buffs call timeout

43-30 at the half

Scalia with 10, Singer 7, Tretter 5

Rebounds CU 20 Miami 10
Points in the paint Cu 26 Miami 14
FG % CU 55 Miami 39

Devries and Scalia have combined for 0 rebounds

This seems to be a team that is simply much better than we are.

61-47 going to the 4th quarter. Our tallest player has one rebound and got thst with 3 minutes left in the third quarter.

Scalia 16, Tretter 14, Singer 7. Sakono must be injured as she hasn’t played. And of course no Blumenfeld either.

Miami looks gassed. Travel, elevation and size difference..

Until we recruit some athletic rebounders who who also can defend in the paint we will be at best a slightly above average team- this was not enjoyable to watch today.

You’re missing the point. The goal is to win MAC Championships and make the tournament. Coach Box has us on track to do that.

As the ESPN guy said…”you can’t teach length”. Hope there are a few posts out there in recruitland that want to be a Miamian.

The 2 Box just signed are guards. I have mentioned to him a couple times we need to add size

Did he seemed moved by your motion?

Grumpy- I am not missing anything- FYI today -Rebounds Colorado 43- Miami 21. Colorado points in the paint 42. Perhaps you have not seen other MU games - same problems. Box a good coach but needs to bring in talent at the 5 position to win the MAC and be better positioned in OOC games.

There was not one Miami player who played well against Colorado. Not one. They all played like shit.

Seems like the box score says otherwise. Amber had 18 points, Amber 2 (electric boogaloo) had 14. The bench backs up your point though. Not enough ponies. I didn’t watch the game though.

I watched every minute as I have every game. Glenn said in post game comments, the team didn’t play well, they didn’t handle the elevation well, Tamar cramped up, we got nothing from our bench, Amber, Amber, and Tamar suffered from having to continually play so many minutes with again, no help from the bench, as I mentioned during the thread, we had no Sakono, already down Blumenfeld, and we only have a roster of 12. In my opinion, Miami had one good stretch in the game, and that was when we went on a 9-0 run. Besides that, it was not good. Not good from anyone. And Glenn’s frustration was clearly visible. Colorado was the best team we have played. And we have now played 3 high major, power conference teams. Purdue, who we should have beaten, UC who we did beat, and Colorado who clearly overpowered us. Yes, looking at the box score Scalia, Tretter and Singer had some numbers that don’t look bad, but they don’t tell the story. And when the shortest player on the team is your second leading rebounder, there is an issue.

If we are going to continue to play this type of a schedule, and I hope we do, then we need to add more impact size in the post, as CalOHawk mentioned above. Right now, production wise, on a fairly consistent basis, we have Tretter. That is it. Key in on the word I used, “impact”.

I keyed in on the word “shit” when you said they all played like shit. But shit, 18 points is not shit.

This team is 7-4 playing a pretty challenging schedule. Nothing to be upset about. This is a solid mid major team. The MAC has a few other very solid teams like Miami, and a couple with significant size. UMASS, Ball State, Miami are probably the three best MAC teams, but OU, BG, EMU are not far behind. Miami has a very challenging game Saturday at home against 8-4 Green Bay who lost by 3 to Kansas State and lost by 4 to Wisconsin and only lost by 5 to 20th ranked Washington. Miami has to rebound from this Colorado game. After Green Bay, Miami begins MAC play 12/31 at Kent. By the way, Green Bay has 7 girls on the roster 6 foot or taller, including one who is 6’4", and 2 who are 6’2". Miami has a total of three healthy players 6 foot or taller, with Devries at 6’3" being the tallest as is Van Timmeren off the bench. Tretter is 6’1".
