Miami to play North Texas State

TexasRedHawk - Unless we can win this game, we’re not going to impress many FBS quality Texas high school athletes.

There are nearly 2,000 Miami alums in the Metroplex, another 1,500 or so in Houston, and well over 500 in Austin. Obviously not all (or even half or a quarter) will go to the game, but saying “there’s not much of an alumni base here” isn’t accurate.

True. It’s all relative. There are more than 2,000 all the way out in Washington State, too. Hopefully some Texas alums will show up. Our playing in Texas is a very rare situation indeed…I actually can’t even remember playing there - or any team from Texas - at least since we played at Houston in 1984. Actually, I just checked if. We’ve only played three games against Texas teams in our entire history - at Houston in ‘84, against Houston in the ‘62 Tangerine Bowl and in the ‘49 Sun Bowl against Texas Tech.

There is a Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites, and La Quinta Inn & Suites within walking distance to Toyota Stadium. As of last night the Holiday Inn Express had rooms available for around $100/night. I snagged one with rewards points. (I’ve stayed there before for work. It’s fairly new and decent).

Still no luck trying to purchase tickets through the website linked in the email from the athletic department. Every time I select my seats and go to purchase I get a message saying my time has run out for purchasing these seats, and it’s not like the seats selected are sitting in a cart for more than a minute before I try to purchase them.

I noticed the North Texas site doesn’t have a link to tickets up yet. Also, you can’t tell on the Toyota Stadium seating map which side is ours and which side is North Texas’.

My guess is since Miami is the home team they will be on the West sideline

There was a place I found that had which said was Miami

I am wondering if there are any events to this game or not- hard to say so far- looks like things for the teams but I didnt see any pep rally or other items mentioned

Well, since they threw this game together in a couple of days I suspect it’ll take a few more days to construct a schedule of pre-game events (if they intend to do any). The first big hurdles were time and place (and TV). Which they obviously now have.

Pretty sure it only allows Miami sections 103 to 109…so there u go

It was a huge pain in the ass, but I was able to get the ticket website to work. My seats are in Section 108.

Checked out Mean Green message board, and they have many of the same frustrations and questions we have here about ticket purchase, seating, and pre-game activities. They also hope that 8,000 plus North Texas fans show up for the game.

Is anyone else going besides me? Bueller?

Likely going but I am still waiting. For sure if the band gets invited

So you, me, Armand Robinson, and possibly Chris Givens. We’ll need to be extra loud.

Wish we were, but the timing is bad. I’ll watch on tv, but will miss seeing my hawk talk peeps. Bash was a great tour guide in Mobile. This was the last time I saw Dave.
