It turns out the payout is $8.5 million. What luck!

Both teams are 6-6. We’re #91 in the Sagarin ratings, they are #111. Predictor has us as 5 point favorites on a neutral field, which this really isn’t.

Neither the opponent nor the bowl is very exciting, but we haven’t won a bowl game in 11 years. This is only our 5th bowl game since Big Ben ('04, '10, '16, '19). Let’s enjoy this and get the OOC monkey off Chuck’s back!

I’ll never be upset about the extra practice time, but it amazes me that this game would make ESPN enough money to throw together from scratch at the very last minute.

North Texas is 0-4 in bowls under their coach Seth Littrell (in his sixth season), something’s gotta give.

Honestly, ESPN probably doesn’t care. It’s all mid-week afternoon programming to them. It gives PTI an excuse to take an extra day before Christmas.

Seems a bit fitting bowl for Chuck Martin to lead us to at this point…

No can he at least win, which ironically feel like just another OOC game.

It’s a bit funny MAC sent us here, but the LIU game likely did not help.

Just win!

I am surprised NIU went to the Cure Bowl and CMU went to the Arizona Bowl. Real quick turn around for the Huskies.

As opposed to that highly attractive Camellia Bowl against Georgia State? It’s not like we just lost out on a NY6 bowl and suddenly ended up in Frisco.

Skins: did the MAC ā€œsend us hereā€œ or did the Frisco Football Classic get the last pick?

Based on these guys drilling UTSA, a win will not be a easy, but a loss in this game …oof!

Cincy I have no idea…but have to think that this was ā€œcreatedā€ with us in mind…

Although primarily a soccer complex, Toyota Stadium looks pretty modern (seats kinda far from field due to soccer configuration), and should be a good venue. Have no idea of how well the Mean Green draw, but it’s practically a home field for them so might be a decent crowd by today’s bowl standards.

UNT averaged 14,427 (if Wikipedia attendance numbers are to be believed) at home this season.

SBNation just posted an announcement of the what they call the ā€œmakeshiftā€ Frisco Football Classic. Interestingly, in the game preview it notes Miami’s 31 game losing streak against OOC FBS opponents. Time to put that streak to bed!

A ā€œmakeshift bowl gameā€ featuring a team with an 0-31 OOC record. I SMELL RATINGS GOLD!!!

Honestly, it is an opportunity. Winning record. OOC win. This one is a must win for the program.

Huge to get the extra few weeks of practice and I’m really happy for the kids, it’s been a LONG couple of years, hopefully they have fun and then W I N

Agree - our underclassmen get a few more weeks of practice (something OU, BG, Akron and Buffalo don’t get), we can beat an OOC opponent, tell recruits we went bowling, and end the season with a WIN. Love and Honor - go get the damn trophy

Miami should wear all red and UNT wear all green…make it a true holiday showdown!

It’s 35 minutes by freeway from their home field - Apogee Stadium.
