Over Thanksgiving! Hmm, wonder what those that transferred are thinking now.
The women’s event runs Nov. 26-28. Miami is joined by Kansas, Minnesota and Washington State in the tournament field, with two teams yet to be named. Each team will play a pair of contests in Mexico.
We played Washington state in an MTE last year. Was our worst loss of the year
Alex and I went down for this at the same resort when the men played a decade ago and had a good time (other than the results). Something otherworldly and surreal about laying at the pool with margs and then stumbling over to the ballroom for some basketball (with courtside bar).
And that loss doesn’t deter Glenn Box in the least. Just stokes the fires. There are a few losses this year in particular that bother him. That is one of them. He said it last year, and will say it and emphasize it again this year, this team’s goal is the second week of the NCAA Tournament. Absent injuries they will get there. Tamar Singer and Butler will not even make the tournament. Some players make career blunders, and this was one of epic proportions. Massively bad advice. No one can fault Devries for her decision to go to Stanford. The others Miami lost quite frankly are addition by subtraction in my opinion.
There is no question the new players give us a much deeper and more talented bench than we had last season. Hoping they mesh well and accept their roles. Singer’s decision will always remain a head scratcher.
Worst loss only because we should have beaten them - lost by a point or two. Most lopsided beatdown was at Colorado where we weren’t even competitive..
Not worst loss as in we got blown out, worst loss as in they finished the year 9-25 and we should’ve destroyed them
