St Cloud is currently the best of the rest in the NCHC (fifth place) at 13-13 (6-10) with 20 points to our 16, albeit with two more games played.
We split the series in Nov, but with an OT win so only 2 of 6 points.
Realistically a sweep might be necessary if we want a chance to make the NCAA tournament. St. Cloud is 17 in NPI we are 25
A sweep would also go a long way towards positioning to make that last home series of the regular season vs Duluth very important.
Team, aside from the meme “So you’re saying there’s a chance?” we’re out of it for an at large with an 86% NOPE! probability. We have too much ground to make up with too many teams in front of us. To get an at large we need to run the table (including making it to the championship game) which we know isn’t going to happen.
Edit (clicked to fast…) What’s important is staying ahead of CC and/or UNO. That’s doable as long as we can stay the course. It looks like we currently have an 11% chance of missing the NCHC playoffs. That’s what we should be focusing on.

I agree our best bet for a tournament bid is an auto bid for winning the NCHC tournament. But also I don’t want to fall into the “anything but dead last” mindset. This weekend could set us up in 5th place I believe- I want to see us as high as we can get instead of just aiming for 8th place (maybe fighting for home playoff ice? Although that may get interesting with the bball mac tournament happening at the same time with our 31-0 team).
I guess it also helps to put as much distance between us and last place as possible but I just love seeing us jump teams in the NCHC standings😂

It would be nice to eliminate a last place finish prior to the series at Omaha to end the year.
4th place being in the realm of possibility going into the Duluth series would be a wonderful exceeding of expectations.

I played around with the calculator the other day. Sweeping the St. Cloud and Omaha series, and splitting the WMU/DEN/ND series would put us 14th.
