Chevrier gives up a HR top 6 and CMU leads
3-2 heading to bottom 6. Chevrier only has given up 3 hits but 2 or 3 for extra bases and has 6 walks. Not a good pitching days for Miami.
Hernandez double leads to Miami run. 3-3 headed to 7th with the season on the line. CMU RF made a great catch to limit the damage.
This got ugly fast. We look really bad this top half of the 7th ![]()
7th inning is a shit show for Miami-walks, multiple errors. Down 6-3 and CMU still batting.
This team just doesnât have the same offense as prior years. And the pitching isnât good enough to win pitching duels
Been watchinâthis program for years and the problem ainât talent. They struggle to manufacture runs and when they get behind offensively itâs like nobody can settle the girls down and make adjustments. Good teams find ways to scratch across runs even on ugly days. From what Iâm hearinâ from other parents too, this staff still ainât figured out how to balance depth properly. Too much talent for the season to end like this. Its shame because this looked like a promising group.
Miami loses 7-3. Streak of NCAA appearances gone. They were poor in all phases of the game today. Losing some good seniors.
I donât think many of us had Miami being done after Day 1. But this team wasnât as competitive as last yearâs team or the teams we grew accustomed to under Kumar. It wasnât built on power, and although Hosick was outstanding, there was no true dominant pitcher who could go game after game. We lose six seniors. They probably deserved a better ending to their careers. We had seven Freshmen on the roster and can return up to 17 players next year if everyone stays. We had some solid moments this season but oddly some of our strongest outings were early in the season. Not ending the year as either MAC regular season champs or tournament champs feels strange. Hopefully, what happened today leaves a bitter taste for those returning next year and creates a commitment to not repeat it. Overall, a solid seasonâŚjust not up to recent Miami standards.
Love & Honor!
I donât think this season was the season they thought they would have. Itâll be interesting to see what happens with the portal both + & -
Itâll also be interesting to see if this has an effect on their recruiting.
I reckon part of the problem nowadays is a whole lotta players look at Miami as more of a stepping stone than a final stop. Heard through the grapevine some of them freshmen and truth be told, some of the best ballplayers on that roster already outplayin upperclassmen are already bein shopped around elsewhere. Thatâs a dang shame because howâs a program supposed to build grit, chemistry, and momentum when folks got one foot out the door before the seasonâs even over? Now the MAC ainât exactly the SEC or nothin, but the same problems kept rearin their ugly head all season long: couldnât manufacture runs consistently and outside of Hosick there just werenât enough arms you could trust game after game. You might survive one of them problems⌠but ya sure ainât survivin both come tournament time. And yeah, the portalâll probably patch some holes again, but livin year to year off the portal is like patchin a barn roof with duct tape. Eventually it caves in. What Kumar built had toughness and identity to it. Thatâs why this one stings a little extra. Season started off lookin mighty promising too. Early on this team looked like they could make a real run. I honestly had ZERO belief this season was gonna end on Day 1 of the MAC Tournament. None whatsoever. At the end of the day this one falls on the staff. Too much talent on that roster to be loadin up the buses after one day instead of fightin for a championship.
=>What an awful performance.
I think this is a perfectly accurate snapshot.
Going to be very interesting to see if Coach Mandy can hold onto those freshman because she has some real talent lined up in the 26 and 27 classes.
Shoot, Iâve even heard thereâs a couple girls that barely got any run this year that are flat out better than some of the ones folks watched out there every weekend⌠believe it or not. Thatâs what makes this whole thing even tougher to understand from the outside lookin in.
This team was way too talented to be packin up after Day 1 of the MAC Tournament. Just no excuse for it. Somethinâs gotta be adjusted whether itâs lineup management, player development, confidence, or whatever else was goin on behind closed doors. Makes ya wonder if maybe some off-field stuff crept into the locker room too because the inconsistency all year just didnât make much sense for a roster with that kinda talent.
What baffled me was how Miamiâs HC continued to leave in pitchers who clearly couldnât hit the side of a barn. Yes, Hosick is our top pitcher. But when you throw 10 straight balls and are still in the game, in a tournament game, perhaps a change should have been made sooner than it was. Same with Chevrier. 7 walks in game 2. And the defense in the 7th inning of game 2 was reminiscent of the Bad News Bears.
There is little doubt that yesterdayâs showing was the worst doubleheader performance in recent memory.
They might be great recruiters but their game management is bad.
It sure was yesterday.
Coachâs name came up for the Illinois jobâŚ.. Just rumors to consider but still.
Now I ainât sayinâ itâd be a home run hire right outta the gate, but Iâll tell ya what⌠thatâd be a pretty darn good fit for her if ya ask me. Sheâs been around Big Ten softball both as a player and coach, so she knows what real ball looks like and what it takes to survive that grind week after week.
Only thing is and this is important sheâd better surround herself with some elite assistants. Canât do it alone nowadays. Recruiting, pitching development, analytics, player relations⌠itâs a full-time circus anymore. Head coach sets the tone, but them assistants either make ya dangerous or send ya right back to .500 sloppy ball.
