Yea us. I had an appointment that caused me to miss the second half and beyond. I’d like to say I was not worried, but that would be a falsehood.
Well said
We actually had a pretty decent record of winning in the tournament when it was still 12 teams pre-covid, but the quarterfinal was always the bugaboo. Since Coles retired, we’ve made the final 8 in 10/13 years, but never any further until now.
It’s interesting seeing us play as the favorite with expectations against the upstart trying to pull off a gusty win, I’m so used to us playing the second role. This EMU squad is probably better than most/all of our post-2010 teams that made it to Cleveland, but regardless a win is a win.
We get to keep our hotel key!
Good to see you back. Been a while!
It feels great to be playing on Friday! For this team to have a good year, in my mind, they had to finish in the top 4 in the league and make it to Friday. They’ve done that, congratulations to everyone. Today was a big step. We’re raised the floor of the program back to where it should be.
We did enough to win and that’s all you can hope for, especially with a team that doesn’t have much postseason experience. The most impressive thing about today may have been the way we stayed in the game mentally. There was some frustration, but we kept playing. 10 turnovers in the 1st half, going under too many screens on defense in the 1st half, not finishing at the rim, not shooting well at the foul line. But we kept coming. I thought this was Craft’s best game because he impacted the game at both ends, shooting and rebounding. He played tough, the drive he had in the 2nd half to get us to 59-all was impressive.
I liked that Coach Steele stepped in and called some set plays in the 2nd half, which led to the big run. They definitely caused confusion on Eastern’s end and we got wide open looks for our guy who was actually making them. Eastern didn’t do themselves any favors by taking the ball out of Henry’s and Terry’s hands too much in the 2nd half. We did a great job on Nelson all night, not over playing and making him and their others finish some tough 2s.
Now, we need to convert more around the basket and at the foul line if we’re going to win tomorrow. We need Elmer and Woolfolk to make more of an imprint on the game tomorrow. But tonight was a great first step. Just win Friday.
Craft is a genius at understanding spacing. He is a gift.
For the most of the game eastern was shooting better from three than us- that was big trouble. But it eventually got even
We rebounded well and we got to the foul line more even before the last 90 seconds
I hate playing Kent but what a fun season
Just because we try to match it. If we allowed our big men to get position and get a shot or foul, that’d help us even more
They should hate playing us, too.
“To be the man, you have to beat the man…”
Kent favored by 3.5…fuck Vegas…bunch of drunks who don’t know shit.
Key factor going up against Kent State again, F–kin’ box out and rebound tonight!..and MAKE Free throws.
Can I use that?
If Suder is able to walk today, and if he does a job on Sullinger like he did on Terry in the second half, we’ll win the game.
I’m definitely worried about Suder’s health. He was hurting bad at the end of the game, re-injuring with a minute to go, whatever he’d hurt vs Ball State.
