MIAMI FACES TOUGH TASK AT UMASS-GAME NOTES AND GAME THREAD

Since Nov. 29, the RedHawks have lost just one contest and have won
16 of their last 17 games, including 13-straight. Miami’s 11-0 record in MAC play is the best
conference start in program history, surpassing the 9-0 start from the 1989-90 squad. Miami, the lone undefeated team in MAC play, last won a MAC regular season championship during the 2007-08 campaign.

UMass is 17-5 overall and are third in the MAC
standings at 9-2. The Minutewomen have won four-straight conference games and are led by Yahmani McKayle (16.6 ppg.) and Megan Olbrys (14. 2 ppg.) The RedHawks have won
the last three meetings, including a 72-60 win earlier this year on Jan. 7 in Oxford. In that
contest, five RedHawks scored in double figures, Amber Tretter had a double-double (17
points, 10 rebounds) and Tamar Singer posted 11 assists.

A quick analytic assessment by Mr. Grok AI:

Game Outcome Prediction Using Analytics: The upcoming matchup is Miami (OH) at UMass on Feb 14, 2026 (MAC conference game at Mullins Center). Miami previously beat UMass 72-60 at home on Jan 7, dominating with superior efficiency (ORtg advantage) and defense.

  • Analytics-Driven Factors: Miami’s road performance (69 PPG scored, 55 allowed) outperforms UMass’s home defense (62.8 allowed). UMass’s home offense (68.4 PPG) faces Miami’s elite DRtg (82.0). Home-court advantage (~3-4 points) narrows the gap, but Miami’s +8.1 net rating and 13-game win streak suggest resilience. Adjusted for SOS and prior head-to-head, Miami holds a ~55-60% win probability.
  • Predicted Score: Miami (OH) 68, UMass 65 (close road win for Miami, total ~133 points; under typical O/U of 135-140).
  • Why Miami Wins: Better defensive efficiency and road form; they force more turnovers (13.5% opponent TO%) and shoot higher eFG%. UMass’s recent home loss to JMU highlights vulnerabilities against top MAC teams.

And today is the MAC’s best PG’s birthday! I believe she is 22.

Actually, they were fine. If Group members disliked, they could have skipped the content.

Good seats still available… mediocre and bad seats are also still available.

tough start on both ends for both teams

8-7 Miami after one quarter. Clunky for all involved. Singer sat most of quarter with 2 fouls.

Eye bleeding performance for both teams.

This is rough. First to 30 may take it.

Scalia is having a horrific game. 2 turnovers including taking her sweet ass time bringing the ball up the court and getting called for 10 seconds then a horrible pass that led to a UMASS fast break layup. Then just bad shooting. Box had no choice but to bring Singer back in with 2 fouls. Since coming in Singer has scored 4 points but this game is a clunky mess for both teams. Miami for the most part looks bad. This is shaping up to be a game like the last one, just survive. Miami 14-13 at the media timeout.

Scalia with her 4th turnover. Miami’s 11th

Down by 5 at the half. In this game 5 feels like about 15.

Miami down 23-18 at the half. UMASS hit 2 threes to end the half. 20 total turnovers in this game. Miami has 12 of them. And Miami only has 4 assists. This game is very difficult to watch.
