Miami at Eastern Michigan Tuesday at 6:30 on ESPN+

Nelson is 5-23 on 3’s for the season.
Tonight 3-3.

I’m not an analytics guy, but as usual in league play, it seems like the scouting report gets out by February. Miami scored 80 or more in six out of eight games in January and got killed in a high-tempo game at Akron. Troy didn’t win, but I think they set a template for mid-table MAC teams to compete with the Redhawks – slow the game down to the 60s or 70s, play very physical against Miami’s bigs, and close out hard on the hot shooter. It seems like Miami has struggled on offense now for about three weeks – and they’re not consistent enough defensively to have that bail them out every night.

No problems with Firestick.

Wait, what do you think modern offenses are built around? What do you actually think makes Miami one of the best shooting teams in the country?

And the wings. Suder, Craft, and Elmer all have struggled with tough defense.

Firing on all 2 cylinders now.
Too bad we used to have a V-8!

That also affects the shooting by the second half. Getting bodied all the time wears you down.

ETA: I think the question for Coach Steele and the staff to take this season from good to great is the countermove. What does Miami do to speed the game back up and avoid having those guys taking a pounding? The natural answer is more trapping and pressure, but some of our starters aren’t plus defenders.

I feel like the score is wrong

Less arguing about why we are losing to crappy directional Michigan teams and more not losing to crappy directional Michigan teams please.

@JiveHawk my point is that Cooper isn’t a good shooter anytime.

Think I’ll save myself a drive on Friday. This is brutal.

My guess is Friday will be way different

I know I’m nuts for saying this but I can still see a way to win. Would require changing the rotation and keeping Evan in the rest of the way. Reece seems possibly hurt. Maybe back? We could go smalls and run a little…

We need to make a run though soon or it’s not happening.

We’re 3-20 from 3.
They’re at 50%.

This week of playing soft and getting bullied is less than ideal. Some home cookin’ on Friday night better wake everyone up.

While it certainly sucks coming back down to earth like this, I’m trying to look on the bright side. This is still our best season in ages, and the first time we beat Toledo since the Charlie Coles administration. There have been some high highs this year.

And considering how average the MAC is overall this year, who’s to say they won’t flip a switch and go on a run in Cleveland. I mean, other than Theman of course.

Need to play defense to have any chance at all.
Yeah, it’s slim right now.

This team struggles with physicality. Has all year.

This deteriorated at the half. I thought 44 getting 4 fouls would help, but the defense hasn’t responded.
