Game is on ESPN3. " Giving up too many points!!" would be the refrain for both teams. We know about our struggles. BG started the MAC season with wins over Eastern Michigan and Ohio. Since then they have lost to Akron, Western Michigan, and Buffalo. They have given up 74, 108, and 100 in those 3 losses.
Miami is 7-11 ( 1-4), while BG is 8-10 (2-3). We have reached the point where we need to start winning the games against lower level and mid level teams if we are going to reach the goal of making it to Cleveland.
BG is second in the MAC in fewest turnovers. They have 4 guys averaging double digits. 3 guards lead them in scoring. Leon Ayers III is averaging 17.7ppg and has 20 threes, Samari Curtis is averaging 11.8 and has 26 threes, and Kaden Matheny is averaging 11.3 and has 42 threes. 6-8 Rashon Agee averages 11.2 and leads BG with 6.6 rpg.
Miami leads the MAC in ft% and in 3 pointers made. We are 11th of 12 in opponent FG%.Mekhi Lairy leads Miami in scoring ( 17.3ppg) and assists ( 4.2apg).
Same. Too many games where Mirambeaux gets early fouls and the offense stalls. I’m high on Morris long-term, but he’s not as good as upperclassmen and can get worked with decent firework.
We’re getting ~30% fewer drawn fouls and ~30% more fouls called in conference play. Mirambeaux has hardly drawn anything and he’s consistently hammered. At the same time they’re calling him for things fast. Lairy isn’t drawing fouls either.
BG is shooting 64%. in the first couple of minutes Agee went 4 for 4 and Mabry 0-2, mostly matched up against each other. Unlike our “shooters”, Matheny has been drilling them all year when left open. Mirambeaus and Safford can score easily against these guys, but they are both in foul trouble.
