Looking at the last 5 of last week’s AP Top 25, I could see Seton Hall (lost 2), Tennessee (lost to Ky), USU (went 1-1), and maybe UGA (went 1-1) possibly dropping out or below us. But since we were 29th last week, we would also have to jump some of the other teams also receiving votes in the 26-28th spots.
Rothstein finally put Miami in his top 45.
Number 45
I used to think Rothstein was endearing as college basketball’s rain man…but hes just a shill for the P4 and high majors
Saw two pundits’ predictions on the AP top 25 to be released this afternoon. One had us at #23 and the other just outside at #26.
Today Miami made their debut in ESPN’s top 25 Power poll. Despite noting our weak SOS, the blurb did a nice job of crediting us for beating good MAC rivals on the road as well as Akron at home, and thus deserving of our inclusion in their ranking.
In today’s poll moved up one in each major poll. #23 in AP and #24 in Coach’s poll.
2 losses this week for #20 Clemson this week
Bilas ranks his top 68 teams in the country and puts us at #26. Gives us credit for being undefeated (w a shot at our schedule but does note Steele has maintained we couldn’t get anyone to play us), and makes it clear that we will drop in his ratings as soon as we lose a game. (if we do).
Bilas is still an asshole.
Moving on up to #21 in AP poll, but drop to #25 in Coach’s poll as two teams moved up over us.
P.S. IIRC, our Wally World Sweet 16 team of 1999 finished 21st in the final poll. And our 1978 Sweet 16 finished 19th in the final AP poll.
In 1999 we finished #20 in the coaches poll. I don’t believe there was an AP poll after the tournament.
Thanks for clarifying!
