Shooting comes and goes, but We played their pace the whole game–never tried to get up and down like we want to. Also gave up way too many offensive boards, and didn’t sustain the defensive intensity like we need to. But, as noted above, a W is a W.
UAPB is the 3rd worst team in kenpom. We better beat them by 15 minimum
Rough start for Elmer this year. 6/20 from the floor and 2/12 from three against D1 opponents. He also had 4 TOs tonight.
Skaljac played very well even with foul trouble.
It was a gritty gut check win. Nice to get it in the W column and this type of win could provide dividends down the road
Byers needs to make something from inside the arc in a game like this…
Has anyone posted - what’s wrong with Suder?
Word on the street is that Suder has an ear infection, and he is now focused on preparing for the NBA Draft.
Not pretty but a win is a win. Proud of how they battled back and got it done. 4-0 bang!!
I believe it was mentioned during the game is was a mild ankle sprain and they didn’t expect him to miss much time.
I almost feel like he may have played through it if this was a big MAC game but staff felt like he could rest and it almost bit us.
Hoping Steele says something like “just a minor tweak, if it was a MAC game he’d probably play”
If he isn’t 100% I would hope we could beat APB without him and let him fully heal.
5 players in double digit scoring is nice. Good we don’t have to rely on one guy to be the scorer and can spread the wealth. To me that’s a huge plus.

Ugly wins > Ugly hookers
Welcome!
I didn’t like what I saw today. Mercyhurst played good basketball and got everything out of their team that they could, they maxed out. But we should’ve been able to handle them. Even without Suder, Mercyhurst shouldn’t shoot 68% in the 2nd half, 14/16 from 2! In the 2nd half, half court points in the paint, so excluding transition: Mercyhurst 22 Miami 6. There was very little communication on defense. Simple backscreens and back cuts, but we didn’t talk so they got layups. They ran their offense with very little interference, found their rhythm in the 2nd half and made it a game. Why we played zone is beyond me, especially when it requires communicating, which we weren’t doing. Going zone takes energy out of the game. We should’ve pressed them, put some energy back into the game.
Offensively, too many possessions were one pass, chuck a 3, even in the 1st half when we made some 3s. Finally at the end of the game, we isolated Ipsaro and Skaljac and let them work. That should’ve been our offense the whole game, excluding Skaljac’s foul trouble. The freshmen didn’t give us much tonight. Thank goodness we made 26/31 from the foul line.
We won and that’s about the only glaring positive from me tonight. Our energy level was very disappointing tonight.
This should replace Notre Dame’s “Play Like A Champion” sign.
You’re not wrong.
Put it on the list.
