I feel like if he could just bulk up a bit he might be more physically imposing on the court…

Absolute NO BRAINER. Take this kid, Mike Bramos was the last Greek player Miami had and the program hasn’t been the same since he left. More Greek players!!!

Dalonte Brown was our power forward, Yes, but only because we did not have a real one. He was a natural 3- man and loved spending all his time hanging around the arc for 3’s. So I am counting his 5 years plus this year. In all those years we had no real power forward, just 3’s who were forced to play out of position. Logan McLane played center for us most of his minutes, not power forward. But a guy like that would be great as he would not be forced to center like Logan was. Felder also played center for us, but a guy like him would be great for this team.

Yes, we are talking about how badly we got outrebounded in late season losses to CMU and Buffalo. Sure, we had some 6-6 or 6-7 or 6-5 guys like Safford and Williams and Lewis, but only Safford could actuallly compete on the board against the strength and physicality of the forwards from Central and Buffalo and agaisnt Central he got in foul trouble. When you throw in the size of Lairy and the lack of physicality of Mabry, that is where we got beat. Toledo does have a talented 6-9 guy and they throw him in at center when needed, but really Shumate is their starting 5 man and they also have an excellent 6-6 PF. They did really struggle against Kent though because they physically got pushed around inside. Toledo wins on great passing, shooting, and driving ability. Their players have a very complete package of skills, they all hit 3’s, midrange jumpers, and take it to the hole. Most efficient offense in the nation statistically. Very few turnovers, great shooting percentage.

Like this guy - front line depth. Giving Steele a call.

The problem there is that none of those 3 guys have the ablility to play anything but center, and after that we go to Safford as the only other guy who could compete physically inside against many teams. You can’t really play two of those big guys at the same time. Kotecki is in the mold of a guy who can play outside and bang inside, and still guard the perimeter. Hopefully he can play some minutes as a true freshman, but having an experienced transfer portal guy would be better.

Preach it, Dick!

BINGO!!

IMO, Miryne Thomas is the best 4 in the MAC. His 3ptAr is 65% while shooting 35% from there (holding my Dalonte Brown comments ) and he has the ability to drive and score. He creates absolute matchup problems. Defensively, he can guard the 3, 4, or 5. He’s a paint presence. He rebounds well.

If Miami found someone similar, I think Kotecki could get some minutes as a backup like Morris did for Mirambeaux. A bulked up Smith with another year might be able to help too. But Williams isn’t that person and Lewis would be much more natural at the 3.

We are missing a Thomas/Millner type.

Wishing him the best. In the right scenario, he could do very well.

If only we could fill out the roster with Greek guys from St. Louis, Nick and Bluesman would be set!

Kent had the luxury of having not only Thomas, but also Malique Jacobs, Chris Payton ( came on late in the year), and Von Cameron Davis, who were all really physical rebounders and defenders. And none of these guys were the center. Jacobs completely frustrated Shumate. In the case of Thomas, this was his best season and in the tournament was his best basketball of all. Indiana is only a 4 point favorite. Kent can compete physically vs them.

Kent’s guards fit the profile for the type of guards Indiana has struggled with. If Carry can play efficiently as he has at the end of the season, I think Kent will win (I’m picking them to win that game).
