I was just looking at the 2026 softball roster and noticed that Madilyn Reeves is no longer on the team. A little Google search found that she transferred to Louisville. ![]()
It’s a shame. Our best pitcher but I am sure Louisville has more salary money than Miami.
You can’t fault these girls for getting paid when they have a chance. This is their professional league.
I certainly understand - do we have NIL money for softball?
I would answer it this way, football and MBB have the largest amounts of roster money along with hockey. Women’s sports as always are going to be an afterthought. That said, yes we have money for WBB, softball, field hockey, volleyball, but no where close to the amounts of the men’s teams. And yes, there are women’s teams in WBB that are very well funded at levels close to men. You can guess which ones. You can target your giving to whichever program(s) at Miami you wish or put it towards a general fund. Roster money that is.
If you don’t figure out how to keep the kids you get you’ll just lose them to bigger schools with deeper pockets. It’s not all about the money but the money matters.
FYI…
Madilyn Reeves won just four games this year with a VERY bloated ERA. Pitched mostly in relief.
At Miami…
Reeves appeared in 45 games (40 starts), posted a 24–12 record, and led her team with a 3.51 ERA. She also finished the regular season as the NCAA leader in innings pitched and recorded a career-high 232 strikeouts, earning All-MAC First Team and NFCA All-Region Third Team honors.
Reeves’ 2025 season built on a remarkable freshman year, when she was named MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year after going 22–4, throwing her first career no-hitter, and striking out 129 batters in 163 innings. She also earned All-Tournament Team recognition for her postseason play.
Edit was minor. Relax.
Our 26 and 27 classes are loaded with kids that would beat her out today.
