Currently after a day and a half, the Miami men’s team is 5th with 11 points (7 of 21 events are complete) and the Miami women’s team is 10th with 8 points (5 of 21 events are complete). All events will be completed on Saturday.
Miami men’s team finished 5th (out of five teams) with 63 points, and the Miami women’s team finished 7th (out of 12 teams) with 48.5 points. Miami only had one individual MAC champion (men and women), Mia Boule in the pole vault. She cleared 13’ 2.5" to secure the title and earn MAC freshmen field performer of the year.
Miami track & field is down right now, well below historic standards. I suppose one bright spot is that those scoring for the men’s team are mostly underclassmen.
On a personal note, Akron niece #1 was unable to defend her 2023 MAC title in the 800 m. She finished 4th. Akron niece #2, unlike last year, did not make the final in the 800 m. Both ran legs on the Akron women’s 4 x 400 m relay, which finished second. Bowling Green cousin was injured and was unable to run.
Was that Coach Kortney’s squad? Maybe it’s down now that he left.
How far we have fallen…sad to see
