This is disappointing for sure, but the article nicely shows that the P4 shows fear. They know they can lose in tough environments. Iowa State used to be horrible and now they are decent, but the reality is that they have little chance of ever making any final 4 in football. Iowa State and the Big12 cannot compete with the SEC/Big Ten. Hopefully, BG made the renegotiated contract a massive win economically.
Iowa State was ranked and Ohio U played the absolute shittiest form of offense – sit on the football. Basically, Ohio had their O-line get into position, hold it for 39 seconds and then snap the ball with 1 second left. The game plan was to tire out the Iowa State D-Line not by running plays, but by making them hold their stance on Every. Single. Down.
Ohio won 10-7. The game fucking stunk.
Does it matter as long as you win? Service academies are notorious for running plays to waste the clock. Great strategy if it works and you can make the slow steady 1st downs.

Yeah, that post could easily describe a Chuck Martin game. Not that I love the strategy, but he’s won a lot of games that way.
