Yes, MBB is outstanding. They deserve all the praise and attention they are getting, and more. Support them. But please don’t overlook what Coach Glenn Box has done in 3 years with the women. He literally took over a team with virtually no players left and a minor scandal to overcome. This is a very good team. One of the top mid majors in the country. For those that don’t follow WBB, there is a huge divide between the top teams (UCONN, UCLA, South Carolina etc) and everyone else. The upper echelon teams even blow out other top 25 teams by 20 or more regularly. Huge divide even moreso than the men’s game. But I digress.
Here is my point. If you like seeing a Miami WBB team that wins, wins big, and consistently, Coach Box and the team need your support. So if you give to the men’s team, give to the women’s team as well. Give something, anything. Trust me, they need every dollar. And just as important, show up to their games if you can. And finally, let David Sayler know, keeping Coach Box is a priority just like keeping Travis Steele. If you haven’t throw a few bucks at least to the Women’s Basketball Excellence Fund and/or Women’s Basketball Red Brick Legacy. I thank you and Miami Women’s Basketball thanks you!
I have been donating to women’s basketball for some time now. Longer than some of you have been alive😄. Not large sums, for certain, but a few hundred here and there. I’ve donated larger sums when the football or men’s bb programs were beyond bad so I designed my donations to the women. I will still keep giving, but I would like a couple of things. First, account for the money. Did my designated money get to the correct program and what happened to it then. Second, and Dick and I had discussed this, send out thank you notes, even form letters signed by a manager. When I used to give to our son’s alma mater, Duke, I would get recorded phone messages or thank you notes. That was cool.
Really shouldn’t have lost to Oakland or Wazzu. Wazzu is horrible at 4-18 and Oakland aren’t very good either. Could’ve easily only had 2 losses at this point
