Why? Because they have accepted an invitation to the American.
Pete Thamel just announced JMU has been accepted unanimously into the American. Will join July 2, 2028.
Can’t listen to media BS. Remember two weeks ago when social media made it seem like AAC had no interest in adding teams like JMU, Miami, etc.?
Hopefully the next announcement I see is Miami leaving the MAC and accepting an invitation to the American.
Are we next? Does this need our BOT’s approval?
So then maybe we are leaving the MAC?
JMU was definitely the crown jewel to poach from the SB/CUSA/MAC level.
I think Sayler is doing his best to sell the AAC on why Miami would be worth grabbing, but unlike JMU, our acceptance would likely involve a giant bag of cash. We just aren’t that appealing without paying our way in. Let’s hope they’re willing to whore themselves to us. We are certainly willing Johns.
AI seems to believe the American has denied our application and UConn’s as well. It says JMU found a way around the initial hesitancy to expand conference membership.
Call me skeptical. All of this is seemingly coming from JMU. Has the AAC officially weighed on this? Didn’t the AAC just a few weeks ago say they had no interest in adding any new members right now?
Doesn’t sound like another add is imminent. I expect if we hear more it’ll be in the offseason.

JMU joining is a done deal. American announced it shortly after the JMU vote.
Done deal. Confirmed. It is in fact happening.
The official word from the AAC.
Some additional details:
This hurts for Miami. Feels like we’re stuck in the mac
