Mercer is excellent. I’m a huge Shins fans.
=>Listen here @Bluesman …the Bengals are one of the top 32 teams in the world.
Ya gotta love Mercer. Especially his “Moon River” and “That Old Black Magic”. Oh wait, that’s Johnny Mercer. NVM
Nonsense! That was Hoagy Carmichael.
Defensively l think Mercer watched us yesterday and came out aggressively to stop the 3’s and Studer and Woolfolk in particular took advantage of that and took the ball to the hole time and time again.
Refs let all kinds of contact go, but called it the same for both teams.
Cooper got a couple of shots to drop early and got his confidence back.
In this game we did not get as much out of our bench as we have been but our starters all made big contributions.
In both games IThought we played harder than the rest of the year. Having a crowd support edge in both games helped with the playing harder. Everybody really wanted it and we got a championship.
This team is very young and this tournament gave them a taste of what they are capable of. Seeing how hard we played makes me a lot more optimistic for what could be coming.
It really feels much closer to the 90’s (program wise) than it has in a long time. The last time our team had continuous success. I can actually tell you what we are about. There’s a system in place. The talent is really good. Coaches as well. The MAC will be a very tough league this year. CMU took Minny to the wire. You know the usual suspects will be solid. But…so will we. It’s gonna be fun as hell to watch.
I’m calling my shot: 20 plus wins and we go to the show.
We went 16-18 from the line. Not too shabby!
What I found encouragement in was we won this game with little from the bench. As Potter rounds into form (hopefully), Byers and Skaljac get more college PT, and Kotecki and Ipsaro, we will have pretty good depth.
Suder named MVP of Palms Division. Elmer on all tourney team.
Yea us, yea them.
Suder was so impressive—a “Swiss army knife” player who seems to do everything well.
Michigan wins the Beach Division of the tournament, beating Xavier by 25.
Woolfolk>Morris
Very similar to their margin of victory vs us. Plus this was a neutral site.
Woolfork was not used much as an offensive option at Rutgers, but it seems like we have been working on his moves and throwing him the ball and I think his confidence and skills have come a long way since coming to Oxford. Kudos to the staff.
If you get Kam, Elmer, Suder, and Woolfolk scoring double points every night, we are a very tough out. If Luke Skywalker, Evan, Reece or Cooper becomes our 5th option for that, we are hanging new banners in Millett. And possibly fixing the drink carbonation. But still…
So Miami really was the 2nd best team in the tourney. Suck it, other teams in the Beach division.
Sincerely,
Palms Division Champions
I forgot the tourney setup, was it designed to start with buy games and the Ft. Meyers teams were preset between major/non-major programs? Or if we pulled off the upset at Michigan would we have been placed in the upper division?
Michigan was advancing to the “better” division, regardless of the result of our game.
