I agree it’s not apples to apples. But, I gotta believe all those guys are D1 level on our roster. We literally had to play two walkon’s that first year and we still found a way to win 8 games. And we had players who transferred to D2 after that season. We even beat a team 100 points higher than us in the rankings. Point being we were not remotely good. Yet we still scratched and clawed. There is something that has to account to playing with pride because you wake up one day and are just sick of losing. I have hope we are there. I still think we can win a game or more.
I do think if Miami was in the CCHA this year (a conference similar level to the MAC in basketball) we’d win more games probably be a lot closer to .500
I would agree that last years team was better than what we’re seeing now. They won more non-conference games (against harder teams) and had more close games in conference. The current team reminds me more of two seasons ago when the results were more lopsided more of the time.
But I’m giving more grace to Noreen given it’s his first year vs bergeron having had 5 years to get that team to where they were. Obviously it would be nice to see improvement in year 1 but we really are having to start over from square one or even square negative one since Noreen inherited a much worse team than berge did.
That being said if this team all of a sudden turns a corner and wins out this year I’m gonna take back what I said😂
I think the CCHA is maybe a little better than the MAC on average (if comparing hoops to hockey), as the MAC has been reduced to a one bid NCAA tourney league whereas most years the CCHA gets 2 bids, although I think they are projected to get only one slot this year.
