We talked with Hedric after the game.
Thanks Blues, that was one of the best moments of the day. Another was Prez Crawford groovin to the music track while wearing his academic gown.
He’s loving this season.
We traveled to Oxford just to see Harper play back in the day. I went down to the floor during warmups. Hedric recognized me (I had attended many practices as a student.) He motioned me over, walked around the court with me, and told me about the team, and Harper. Fast forward to this past October, when we attended the E. Michigan football game. Someone remarked that Hedric was there. I found him, and thanked him again. I’ve never forgotten how gracious he was. In that game Harper had 38 points and 19 rebounds.
We talked with Greg after the game. Yes, very much enjoying himself!
THE MIAMI LEGEND RETURNS HOME! THEY PLAYED THIS DURING THE GAME!

I called Coach Hedric a couple days ago. Hadn’t spoken to him in way too long. A great man and coach. No one has done more or meant more to Miami basketball than Coach Hedric. No, not Ron Harper. Without Coach, there probably is no Harp. I do not know what the plan is for naming the new arena, but if it was up to me, without question, it would be Hedric Hall!
As Harp said, a great coach and a great man. We were damn lucky to have him in our program for all these decades.
I could not agree more. Something has to be named after him, and IMO it should be the arena.
If there is a major donor they will probably get naming rights. Darrell Hedric Court seems more likely.
Problem with that is that it’s the Charlie Coles Court. He deserves that it remains so, IMHO.
Certainly. I forgot about that, not that they make it conspicuous.
Hedric and Coles each are deserving. Since it is already Charlie’s court it would be tough to change. Whatever it is, please make it a classy font.
