You don’t call a play like that coming out of a time out. So it was a twice-wasted time out that cost four points.
A rollout to the very short side of the field isn’t ideal unless you know for sure from the film/game so far that it’s a winner.
I’m not bullish on the rest of the game, but we’ve shown this game that our D can get stops and offense can drive. Do both and make it 27-20, but even in that case it sounds like a repeat of the Minnesota game last year where we’re close but no cigar.
The D does its job again.
Great defensive game plan by Chuck
They’re ready to play and playing tough. Love it!
Might need to revisit the ST coach hire
Yeah not good.
I haven’t been impressed either, but I’m willing to reserve judgement for longer than 3/4 of a game against a ranked SEC team in the season opener.
I’ll save the hysterics for when we’ve seen the system more than a week.
Have held UK to 42 yards rushing on 22 runs…1.9 yards a rush…pretty good…
I hope yanks alex is yelling at our special teams coach.
Basically 2 big game changing plays - the kick return and the Bester fumble. 14 pts directly there - take away that first minute of the 2nd half and it’s been 3-3. I’m disappointed a bit, but seeing some good things overall against a top 25 team. Sad to see Vaughn and ColdIron injured though.
Pretty disappointing to play UK so even in terms of stats and end up getting blown out…
We have a solid team here. Not showing right now.
D has played well in spurts. Offense very disappointing-- really thought this would be a bit of track meet but really seems like our offensive playbook has not changed since first year of Chuck.
Well the stats were about even until that long TD Drive…our ability to stop the run gives me a lot of hope we will compete effectively in the MAC.
Get Gabbert out. Let Smith get some experience.
I guess my half time optimism was a mistake. I dont think we are bad- i could see 7-5 or 6-6
Also seeing most of the MAC looking uninspired in FCS wins or awful in P5 losses is a reason to be hopeful.
UC is obviously a step back from last year so that’s not an impossible game even if unlikely. Northwestern should be very tight and by game four we should have the kinks worked out.
Our veteran OL has looked rather mediocre, which is incredibly disappointing.
