Considering Tuesday’s game, but the unknown start time a deterrent.
Coming from Daytona area, and a possible 11:00 start is too early to get there (well, it is for my better half).
I’m only a few hours away, but daytime responsibilities are going to get in the way. Bring it on home.
Dick, what is your seat number? I’ll look for you before the game if we get there early enough, or at halftime.
Enjoyed meeting and conversing with Blackbird today. We both graduated in the 70’s and had many shared Miami memories. We both will be there again on championship Tuesday!
Also, ran into Yanks Alex at halftime. He is still in boxing promotions. He is mostly working in England and Saudi Arabia. He said the Saudi cities are very Americanized. I had read that the Saudis are concerned about oil running out or no longer being so valuable as we move off fossil fuel and they are looking to invest in other areas to keep their economy strong. Thus Alex said they are spending lots of money on sports such as golf, soccer, and now boxing, which is where he comes in. He has tons of airline miles built up from over seas trips so he and his girlfriend took a last minute trip to Fort Meyer to go to the tournament and the beaches. I would say our boy is doing great.
Also, former Miami guard Bill Strauch, who was a fraternity brother of Jim Tewel, joined us. Bill played for Tates Locke and Darryl Hedric and had a nice career there and retired to Florida.

It was my honor and pleasure to meet and compare notes with Dick. Look forward to seeing him again tomorrow. I also met Travis Steele, and the legendary Steve Baker. A great day!

I talked to one more Hawktalker today, Ocala Hawk. He and his lovely wife retired here from Toledo. I might mention here that we had two perfect weather days for the tourney. Heck of a lot better than Toledo. Ocala Hawk has ESPN+ and follows Miami and all the other MAC teams. Very friendly couple.
