For those who want to leave the NCHC for the CCHC

Notre Dame is just being added now too, so that’s not the deciding factor.

I think the B1G was always willing to look the other way about AAU membership with Notre Dame. Not sure that Arizona State would have been given the same consideration. I still think–since the playoff expansion means that ND won’t be joining a conference for a generation–that there’s a 50-50 chance that ND ends up in the NCHC. There’s no love lost between the B1G and ND, and the former no longer has any incentive to do any favors for the latter.

TV revenue stuff needs to be figured out before ND would join the NCHC. Supposedly that’s what kept them from joining in the beginning when they asked for a carve out and Nodak told them to pound sand.

I’m with NoDak on that. The Domers should be treated equally, period.

Then you are not going to get them. That is pretty simple. Notre Dame is a huge name in college sports, far more than any NCHC program. That is just the way it is.

It really does not matter if we cannot compete- does anyone have the '23/24 roster?

Notre Dame wanted to maintain their media rights deal with NBC Sports Network exclusive of the conference tv package. Hockey East and The Big Ten both allowed this. Now that NBCSN is gone and their games have been moved to streaming on Peacock I wonder if their perspective on that has changed?

There is also another angle which various posters have mentioned in various threads throughout various discussions that enters into the discussion. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State will move the needle with a fan base. St. Cloud, Colorado College, Miami University? Not so much. There is little value to Notre Dame in trading all the big schools for some little ones.

How about the CCHA?

It wouldn’t be Notre Dame’s choice. I’m sure that they’re perfectly fine with parking their hockey program in the B1G and getting all the benefits without giving anything back. I just don’t see how much longer the B1G is going to put up with the one-sided relationship now that the door has closed on full membership. First thing though is that the B1G would need to come up with a team (probably two) to replace ND.

Just saw that Tennessee St is starting up a program to begin play in 2024.

That had been rumored for a while, so I’m glad to see it finally happen.

Starting as Club, so TSU would still need deep pockets to go D-1, but it would be a great story.

If they ever went DI they’d be the first HBCU program to do so, correct?

This team will play club, and this is the first time a HBCU will even have that level.

If Willie O’Ree is still with us, he should drop the ceremonial puck for their opening game!

Also Nebraska is not AAU and they are BIG10 exception

They were when they joined and were subsequently kicked out. I’m sure there’s several reasons for buyer’s remorse in the case of Nebraska that go beyond their AAU membership.

Is there still an active contingent among Miami coaches (Berg?) and administration to seriously consider a move to the CCHA ?
