How do UMass and Buffalo both play 2 FCS teams
My understanding is you can play more than 1, but only 1 counts for bowl eligibility even if you play more.
Why not? Itâs not like itâll keep them out of the CFP conversation.
They got rid of the pods the year they came out.
Football aside, they are a better member in all sports than many of the legacy brands. They have won a natty in ice hockey, football (1-AA but still) and I think field hockey or lacrosse.
That is a nice conference schedule. I noticed that Toledo, for instance, is visiting Sac St for a midweek Maction game in November. Plus, we secured both Akron and Kent this year. 8-4 (2-2, 6-2) is a very reasonable expectation this season.
Agreed. 8-4 is definitely achievable. 7-5 at a minimum and 10-2 probably the ceiling.
I personally would go 1-11 if it meant we beat UC and got our bell back.
Itâs only March and here we go again, proclaiming our happiness with 8-4 or 7-5. We keep settling for this and Chuck keeps delivering.
With this schedule, and the rumored NIL spend, 11-2, and a MAC Championship has to be the absolute floor. If the rumored NIL spend on football is true AND we lose Byars and/or Elmer, I think 13-0 is the floor.
Excellent point, Grumpy! This NIL infusion we are told the program received sure wonât last long if the ârewardâ
Is still 1-3 OOC and 6-2 in the MAC.
I donât think itâs fair to the football program to say they have a higher standard if the basketball team loses key players. (That said, I agree the floor definitely needs to be higher than what weâre used to given the NIL spend on football.)
If anything, football should be held to a higher standard because of basketball. We all saw what winning did for basketball and because of basketball. Iâm not saying football needs to be undefeated⌠but winning can be contagious and it is exciting and if you keep winning, fans will come out. Going 1-3 and having the perception from the casual fan that the team didnât even try against power conference teams shouldnât be acceptable.
Iâm not saying the team doesnât try in the August/September games but when students see that the team barely moved the ball against a bad Wisconsin team, then there is no chance theyâre going to show up to fill the stands at Yager.
Agree. Our horrendous OOC record against any opponents with a pulse does not infuse the students and alumni with excitement going into the MAC portion of our schedule.
They killed the Wivalwy!!!
â The wedburd wivalwy?â
Sad, but the Ball St v Sac St rivalry just means more
Given what we know about the roster spend, anything less than a 9-3 regular season is unacceptable. Lose too UC and Pitt (better be competitive in both games) and at Western and thatâs it. Weâre a well-resourced program (for our level) and that should come with expectations. All this 8-4, 7-5 talk is ridiculous to me. Thereâs no reason we shouldnât demand more than that.
Spend the money on the OL and DLâŚ
If you ask pretty much any Pitt fan, the Duuzz would absolutely lose this game⌠I want to see a scalp in person.
I mean, these are the types of P4 games we should absolutely be able to win, but given our history in these gamesâŚ
