ESPN Bracketology

The final one before the season dropped today. Miami is back in, replacing Akron as the MAC’s auto bid. Lunardi has us as a 13 seed. I think Akron had been a 14.

Other teams of note:

#15 Wright St. (opening round)
#6 Kentucky
#9 Cincinnati
#7 Ohio St.
#15 James Madison (opening round)
#12 High Point
#4 Louisville (vs. Miami)

Xavier is listed as a “Next Four Out” team.

We may not have any P4 opponents, but that’s three teams on our schedule projected to go dancing.

Bracketology before a single regular season game has been played?

Does that mean that we should stop buying our plane tickets to our bowl game in Puerto Rico?

He’s been posting them every so many weeks over the summer and fall.

What, in Lunardi’s mind, changed between last week and today that Miami not only jumped Akron but checked in as a 13th seed as opposed to Akron’s 14th seed?

Maybe the MAC preseason poll release?

Woolfolk eligibility?

Doubt it, because Mahaffey is now also eligible.

Oh, I get why Lunardi does it. He’s a former sports information director (St. Joseph’s) who parlayed a hobby into a fulltime job. He needs to create year-round content to justify that. But that doesn’t make it meaningful until some point fairly late in the season.
