Doug Gottlieb, Michigan Tech, Green Bay, & the stupidest comments

Oh Douggie, you should go back to your microphone.

he’s still has the microphone he’s just losing basketball games after and sometimes before he turns it on

We’re nearly a quarter of the way through the 21st century and you cannot make me care about some guy best known for a crime he committed while at Notre Dame in the Nineties no matter how many third-tier microphones he shouts into.

This reminds me of the one game DougGottlieb played at Millett. It was an exhibition game against Fellowship of Christian Athletes or perhaps a different similar squad since I think he is Jewish. Doug guarded Chet Mason and Chet had 38 points, way more than he had in any other Miami game

That there would be problems with this guy was so predictable, it makes you wonder how these administrators can get so seduced by celebrity.

He’s a,well… arrogant prick.

Branch West Basketball Academy. We gave him such a hard time he started yelling at us during the game. They beat us the year before when he wasn’t on the team, but then we beat them in 2002 when he was on the team.

I can’t believe Green Bay let him keep his radio show/podcast while being the head coach. That’s totally absurd to me.

Hey, it might be working. We are talking about Wisconsin Green Bay basketball!

I know the rules have changed a lot over the past few years, but I wasn’t aware that it was legal to sign a 23 year old professional player and have them immediately join your team midseason.

So I’m not clear on the rules anymore. I know there’s still the 4 seasons in 5 years rule, but since he never played college, would it be technically legal for Lebron to sign with Arizona and play with his younger son Bryce now?

Does going pro not affect eligibility? Could someone go pro and come back to college if they are still in the 5 year window?

If Ira Newble played for a JC for two years (he did) doesn’t the new rule that helped Diego P at Vandy get more time help him? I’m not sure Ira can move like he used to, but it does get me thinking. Was lights out on D!

12.2.3.2 Competition With Professionals. An individual shall not be eligible for intercollegiate athletics in a sport if the individual ever competed on a professional team (per Bylaw 12.02.12) in that sport.

And Bylaw 12.02.12 defines a pro team as being any team which pays any player more than actual and necessary expenses, or which declares itself to be professional.

Per the Green Bay Press Gazette, he received an eligibility certification, but I’m not sure why.

Joining midseason and competing is normal provided the player isn’t transferring. It happens occasionally in hockey with players from junior leagues. Michigan did it this year with a player from the USNTDP.

They still lost to Wright State 74-51. Levy went 2-10 from the field and 0-2 from 3. He did get 6 rebounds.

This is what confuses me. He played 14 games last year and 19 games this year in the Israeli top league. They are definitely a pro league. Why is he eligible for NCAA?

You can make millions in the NCAA now. The real question is “What makes the NCAA not a pro league?”

To some degree the locker rooms, practice facilities, lack of private jets for travel, the lack of groupies, paparazzi. But beyond that, getting closer every day.

Did the NCAA ruling on CHL players for hockey open the door for him as well?

Luka Doncic could’ve dominated European basketball and then still played for Duke or something in today’s college basketball

If Euro players play for a professional team but don’t get paid more than allowable travel and housing expenses, they keep eligibility. The thing that makes Levy weird is that he’s 23 rather than 18, I assume because he did his time in the IDF before joining the pro team.

Probably similar to how Tamar Singer on the women’s team is a freshman at the age of 20
