It’s the offseason for Miami athletics, which is a good time to give MHT a little facelift. When I launched this iteration of the site, my goal was to get something up quickly; as long as it was red, it was good enough. I always had plans to do something a bit more bespoke and my goal is to make this offseason the start of that. Soon, you’ll see a series of updates and changes to MHT: a new theme with light and dark mode support, a new category group that allows users to submit and vote on new forum features, a built-in live schedule of Miami sporting events, and more!
Starting today, the new theme is available in an early access opt-in by going to your Profile settings → Interface and updating your current theme. The url will be MiamiHawkTalk - Love and Honor
After I think all the bugs are worked out, I’ll make it the default theme. If you use it, please let me know if you see any visual issues. L&H!
Some of them, yes! I expect things to slow a bit as new features are added, but I’ve spent some time cleaning up old backups (I have weekly backups running and a few other things). All that cruft caused some slowdown over time.
I have good news and bad news. First, the bad news — I took HawkTalk down while trying to update the server. The good news — I backed everything up before starting, and the backup restore worked.
