After the game, there was a great tribute to Chuck Martin for his 60th win, making him the winningest coach in Miami history. I thought it was longer than this, but this is what Miami has released. Enjoy!
You are correct Blues - it was longer at the stadium - this clip dropped off all of the many video congrats from coaches and former players.
I did a cursory search but could not find the longer version. If anyone can locate it please post it.
We did not know there was going to be a postgame ceremony and left after waiting to watch the postgame handshake between the two coaches to see if anything more might happen. Both coaches did have a policeman standing beside them.
Dick: I think it may have been Bluesman that noticed how angry Chuck was at the CMU bench (or HC) during the game. Do you know what set Chuck off?
Allow me a moment to eat some crow here regarding coach Chuck Martin. Like a lot of people here I’ve been critical of Chuck’s game/time management since like forever. I’ve noted how when Miami has an opponent on their heels Chuck seemingly takes his foot off the accelerator, and of course we all joke about Chuck’s “prevent offense” whenever Miami has the slightest of leads, even if it occurs late in the first half. Saturday against Central Michigan however, I think we all saw the birth of “Killer Chuck”. When Miami had the ball in their own territory with less than 2 minutes to play in the first half I figured Chuck would call a series of running plays hoping to run out the clock (particularly since Hesson was in at QB), but to my surprise the offense came out firing on all cylinders and drove down the field to kick a FG to end the half. In the second half with the game clearly in hand by the middle of the 3rd quarter Chuck did not go into the “prevent offense”. Miami scored 2 TDs and 2 FGs in the 4th quarter alone. I don’t know about you guys, but I want to see more of “Killer Chuck”.
We fans only see gameday play selection, clock management and in game adjustments. That is probably less than 20% of the job and what determines the outcome of a game.
The other 80% is recruiting, skill development and most importantly culture creation. I think it is clear that Chuck and his staff have excelled in those areas.
Can anyone photoshop Tim Albin as the doll?
Put this on a T-shirt.
Same video.
Well, I did not see exactly what set Chuck off, but I have seen it from him before, just not to this extent. 90% sure that Chuck was pissed off at Central because they did something cheap or dirty. He argued with two refs for a long time first that they did not throw a flag and then he started in on the Central players on the field, then during a dead ball he went 25 feet on the field yelling at their bench or coach. He was pissed, and I have seen him get that way to a lesser extent before because of dirty play by an opponent.
That is really good.
And can we get the bucket hat?
Perfect! Thanks!
