Can’t wait to hang onto the coveted Redbird Rivalry Trophy. Defending our title in Detroit a lock.
Pretty good guess. We got the inside scoop at halftime as Grumpy was in the restroom at halftime at same time as Papa Gabbert. They X-rayed his left shoulder and found no damage. Oddly, a few years ago at a basketball game, Mrs D-Day returned from the restroom with a similar injury report. Turns out the restroom can be a surprisingly informative place for insider information. Lol
Maybe because he is the most animated coach on college football.
Create the first NIL that pays students to attend games.
What are the implications of shitty student attendance at football games as we/ Miami are also contemplating where to place a new BB arena. If students are too lazy to walk to Yager and prefer an uptown bar, can we believe that a BB arena across the street from Lewis Place will be better able to attract students for either Saturday or mid-week games. If the students would still prefer bar hopping to hoops (see what I did there) does it really matter where the new BB arena might eventually be placed?
Factor in that Miami FB actually has “produced” a very watchable product these last few years having had a very respectable QB, defense and STs and it’s probably comparable to what the long-term prospects are for BB… percentage-wise W-L results… Keep in mind that it’s easier for FB to go bowling (an average of 6 MAC annual bowl invites) whereas MAC hoops remain a one bid NCAA league plus perhaps another 2 teams to other post-season BB tourneys.
Just trying to noodle through the variables…
You nailed it!
I woke up this morning totally into Miami FB- congrats to the entire team for a great
result yesterday and congrats to CM for his record victory. Also hopefully Brett a full go for Ball State . A special positive note to the coaching staff for getting our 2’s and even some 3’s in the game . The injury to Brett in the 2d Q emphasizes even more the importance of reps for Henson whenever possible. Yes Digital Hawk and a few others on this site it is important to use your depth whenever possible for both valuable playing time experience , avoidance of injury and overall team morale- Go Red Hawks!
Home side wasn’t exactly hopping either
Any updates on specifics for Brett? What happened? Prognosis moving forward? I know he returned and did well upon returning in the second half.
Ohio State and Notre Dame were both on at the same time. That probably had a lot to do with student attendance.
I don’t think you needed to include “probably”.
Total announced attendance 10,661. That sucks for a beautiful Saturday on senior day. Isn’t exactly impressive to recruits either to the extent that factors into their decision.
lol
That fall usually results in two injuries. Separated AC joint or busted collarbone. Since his elbow seemed to hit the ground first straight down, bearing all the weight, my guess was AC joint
They may have thought broken collarbone, which is why they said x-rays were negative.
And you can have three grades of an AC injury. Grade 1 and sometimes 2s can just get a shot to numb it and your playing again
Imagine being a recruit seeing that senior day ceremony, start time was never promoted either so much less than that amount actually were there to recognize them
We thought it was beyond atrocious. Seniors deserved much better.
My guess is that is what they thought it was as he walked off the field as Brett gave his family a thumbs down. After he was x-rayed and it was negative Brett told Martin he was playing second half. Probably didn’t want to sit with Blaine there!!
We moved up to 87 in the SP+ rankings this week (second in the MAC behind Toledo) and were the most improved team in the country. The offense, which fell as low as 128 at one point, is now 112. Special teams, which was down in the 90s earlier this season, is up to 39.
Side note, but Pitt is number 1 in the country in special teams efficiency.
We had the most students we ever had for game 1 and we bored the “f” out of them. That game was really boring until the 4th quarter and by that time the students had left
Of course they are. I know the Broyles Award defaults to OC or DC… but he really deserves to win it for the impact he has with ST.
This is it. Beating directional schools doesn’t move the needle. OOC games matter in building program support and overall momentum.
