While searching NCAA.com for a quality cotton Miami RedHawks polo, I stumbled across what may be the most brilliant cross-marketing strategy in college football.
Apparently, the NCAA Shop anticipated that Miami’s unforgettable showing at Pitt would generate millions of new RedHawks fans, all swarming the website desperate to get their hands on official Miami gear.
Demand must be absolutely overwhelming, because NCAA.com has already started slipping Miami Hurricanes merchandise onto the Miami RedHawks page just to keep up.
I can only assume the thought process was:
“After watching that game, America is going to want to wear something that says Miami on it. Let’s give them options.”
Nothing takes the sting out of a rough Saturday quite like discovering the NCAA Shop apparently thinks one Miami is as good as another.
