What would the Sackman say about all this?

No potatoes for Miami, Arizona looking more and more likely
Lucky for us someone has to invite us to fill every bowl slot.
After todayâs unmityigated disaster, for certain - given our apathetic student body and unimpressive fan base.
We would have better off to be BG and not even in the MACC given our âperformanceâ in this game.
I think we let our run through the MAC inflate our sense of self-worth somewhat. 6 of our 8 wins came against teams ranked from 86-134. We lost to teams ranked 63,85 and 93. Our best outings were against 76 BG last weekend and against Ohio in October, now 49 in the CBS Rankings.
Today was obviously our worst outing in almost two years.
Colorado State is ranked 73 right now. That might be a competitive game for us.
We had a good regular season run against some very bad teams.
You are absolutely correct - CM can beat fair to poor teams in the MAC but thats it - losses to NW and UC are excellent examples of how weak we are.
Last I heard, Arizona is pretty much a done deal.
We were told my someone who was very confident at the game they had been told Arizona was 99% for Miami
Yesterday was not fun but I think you all are being too harsh
I am glad we beat Bowling Green- it was an excellent road win
You have to count NIU as a good win - they were tough
It is really hard to beat Northwestern and Cincy- they getter better recruits and they pay more for portal
The problem was Last off season our portal losses exceeded our portal gains and Brett was probably 85% of what he used to be and Coldiron maybe 65%. Savio Frazier hepled. Andre Johnson and Downing made a play or two. But they didnt replace Gage-Amos-Woullard-Warren- Nicholson
Yeah, some of these takes are awfully absurd IMO. We had a bad day- a really bad day. Beyond that, we had a good year after a tough start.
Iâm thankful for the entire team and staff for their efforts. If you arenât, I donât know what to tell ya
Appreciate your more optimistic take, but the one factor that needs to be taken into account was that we were playing a team we beat rather handily with essentially the same personnel that took the field yesterday.
So, what was different? Maybe Chuck was either offered or is hoping for an offer for the Purdue job, and was distracted. But we were not just outplayed in every aspect of the game, there were head scratching coaching decisions as in not going for the first down on our first effective offensive series.
As I stated above somewhere, I think that sent the wrong signal to both our team, and to the opponent. We also made no noticeable GameDay adjustments that I could see. For example, why did our DBâs play 10 yards off the line when we desperately needed a stop?
Yes, we were so thoroughly outplayed, I admit that in game adjustments perhaps would not have worked, but you still canât absolve the coaching staff on this one, and chock it up to our talent being so much less than OU.
Letâs hope we can regroup for the bowl game!
NIL matters!
I agree we made no in game adjustments. Chuck has always been a conservative coach- not going for it on 4th and 1 would have been totally consistent to our team
We actually started fine on offense and actually not terrible on D. The first play on D was almost a sack and they made a great throw. We forced 3rd downs. We almost made a pick on the play that Blakely got hurt on. I wasnt nervous after the first series
And the coaching distraction seems an odd excuse since Albin is apparently the new Charlotte coach
But all my excuses dont make it for it being a terrible day. We had late plans the night before in CLE - driving to Detroit basically after waking up to see a 38-3 loss to Ohio. I cant think of much worse
About what? Weâll go where they tell us to go. Iâm not concerned at all. And this time we will actually show up.
Before the game, I was hoping for a bowl bid vs a P5 school in Arizona. After the game, I am hoping for a bowl bid vs a P5 school in Arizona.
First off we were not playing the same OU team yesterday as the one we played in mid October. The TV announcers said repeatedly OU played backups at both tackle positions in October. If you think all the way back to 2023 youâll realize we defeated a Toledo team for the MAC Championship that beat us in Oxford in October. And we won the 2023 championship with our backup quarterback. When two evenly matched teams meet twice in the same season past is often not prologue. Itâs actually quite common for the script to be flipped in a same season rematch just like we did one year ago. Too bad Chuck forgot everything he knew about adjustments after making them so masterfully in 2023. Our secondary lining up 10 yards off the line would be a prudent adjustment when playing two backup corners like we were. In terms of messages to the team what does it say when the past two seasons when faced with a choice between points or going for a 4th down conversion we take the points. We won a MAC Championship just 12 months ago taking the points and we kept taking the points this year too. What does it say to the team when you suddenly change strategies. It says weâre in trouble to me.
Finally every in game adjustment comes with an associated risk. Adjustments are a zero sum proposition meaning when your shore up one area you expose another. Iâm really curious to learn more about the specific adjustments we failed to make.
Iâd like to think yesterdayâs result will make the guys play extremely hard in the bowl game. Add in that it will be Brettâs (and many others) final college game.
Excited to watch one more game.
The one adjustment we didnt make was against their center blitz. We didnt run one rb screen and we may have one wr screen. We run more wr screens in a normal game
We missed any presence of a big back with Dowling out. Brunson finally got a few carries with Henry in and had some success running against a mix of their ones snd twos with that.
But there isnât any single thing that could have fixed that mess yesterday. It wasnât our day. It definitely was Ohioâs.
