My thoughts exactly!
Just weird as hell. His lawyer who’s represented him in contract negotiations with the school for years tells the school he’s resigning. His lawyer he hired after the radio thing to negotiate that penalty with the school tells the school he’s resigning, and as recently as last week that second lawyer was negotiating buyout terms. And now a third lawyer comes in and says Huggins never resigned? What?
I get that the boosters like him a lot apparently, but this is something else.
Also this is surely grounds for firing him for cause if he really wants to play this game, right? “You were so drunk you thought you were in Columbus instead of Pittsburgh and you didn’t know how you got there” isn’t exactly “fell asleep at the wheel in the alley behind a Morgantown bar.”
I like the part about Thuggins is close to being absolved of all charges. Are you effing kidding me? Beer cans in the car, 0.21 BAC, doesn’t know how he got there, prior history.
Take the ‘L’.
Is it possible this is really a money play? Maybe resigning is for sure no severance but with a firing then you argue about was it “with cause” and maybe there is a severance or buy out
Five strikes against him should be convincing
- DUI # 1
- Racial slur on radio
- DUI #2
- Huggins resigns…no immediate recanting
- WVU appoints interim HC
Just a thought. Besides the obvious, he is negotiating or trying to negotiate a buyout this way, perhaps his newest attorney is setting up a legal malpractice case(s) against the prior two attorneys.
