what is CM’s OOC record?
Unless there is a coaching change and the team is rebuilding a roster dont you think all teams are trying to win big. You dont think we have been trying to win the last 5 years?
Almost every good college team plays the starting quarterback until the game is decided. Last year we played Aveon exclusively when Brett was hurt
I am just not following
We have good linebackers who have put in their time here. Salopek–4th year, as a starter, McWood, Hondru, and Rogers are in their 3rd year, Trick is 2nd year. Dowell and Wise are transfer portal guys who play some LB from power conference schools in their 2nd year here.
It is not like he transferred into a position of need like WR. Those guys started out ahead of him and are playing well.
I was talking about going with the #2 in mop up time. Up 27-0 midway through the fourth quarter should be mop up QB time - especially at home on Family Day.
But to answer your question, no, I don’t think Chuck was coaching with anywhere near the urgency in past seasons as he is this season. He’s never appeared to me to be a “win big” guy. It’s not about the team wanting to win. They always do.
Do you remember why Brett was hurt? Two games we were getting smoked and Gabbert was still in the game. Give the two and three reps. Save your QB1. Give experience and reps to the others. Really not that hard to understand.
Miami only had the ball one time leading 27-0 and Aveon was the qb for those plays - albeit mostly knees
I have many times said I wish Martin would be more aggressive and when the backups are in try and run the real offense
I dont agree that Chuck Martin is trying to win more this year than prior years. If I am understanding your comments correctly. The play calling was a bit more aggressive because he has a veteran qb and Gage at wr. Without Gage we have gotten very vanilla run heavy again
OK. It was 24-0 at the end of the third quarter.
But I think he also understands this is a critical career year for himself. Another 5-7 or 6-6 year probably wouldn’t cut it. That is in itself motivational.
