Brrrr…
Football weather
In Winterpeg.
I was there for the MAC Championship game in 2003. Icing and windy and cold. It’s still early for this forecast. Give it until next Tuesday or a Wednesday to get a better idea.
The main issue is if a front comes down from Canada and hits the lakes. Then it’s snow time
Winner of this game plays OU in MAC Championship, correct?? Thanks
Pretty much. Weird things happen in The Conference of Champions, but yes.
And to BG’s West, there’s no windbreak between BG and DENVER.
The ego and fragility of the KC Chiefs fan base does stop some of the winds.
As my dad used to say: Nothing between there and the North Pole but a barbed wire fence.
Not if Ball State beats O.U.
Does someone have a good handle on how the tie breaker system works First if we beat BG ( which we will ) we are in - we would play OU if OU beats Kent next week as both Miami and OU would be 7-1 . If we lose to BG and BG loses tomorrow to Ball there would be I believe a 3 way tie ( assuming Buffalo wins out.) - three teams at 6-2. I believe we would be out due head to head loss to BG and OU would play either BUffalo or BG. If OU were some how to lose to Kent there could be 4 teams at 6-2 - OU, BG, Buffalo and Miami- what happens then?
Miami loses pretty much every 3 way tie scenario. Only way we get in with a loss is if it’s a 2 way tie with us and Ohio. This would require Ohio to lose to ball state and Kent state to beat Buffalo (so not happening).
Next Friday should be Miami migration day to BG. Every thing is on the line. I have sat through the fog game at BG ( could not even see the game winning field goal go through the uprights on the last play of the game) and the mud bowl where BG’s pk fell flat on his ass as he missed the possible game winner on the last play of the game and our entire defense sprinted down field and dived and slid about 20 yards.
Cold and snow are perfect for another epic game. Dress warm with several layers and gloves and a tossell hat. Bring a poncho just in case. If I can do this at 75, so can you. These are the type of games that you cherish when we win them.
Shirtless weather
I was with you for the fog game. We parked at Frickers, I believe. The image of J Mac walking out of the fog with a beer in each hand as he came up to our seats is permanently ingrained in my Miami memories mind.
I think most of the games I have seen us play at Bee Gee have been bad weather games. BTW, I was in the locker room after the pumpkin game to witness the remains.
@Dick You’ve got to be our age to understand the concept of migration. I’ve been unlucky at the Doyt. In ‘69 I was in the band. The team was sitting st 6-0 and getting votes for the Top 25. We traveled to BG and lost 3-0.
In 1971, after I graduated, I went to the gsme at BG. It poured rain the whole game. We lost 33-7.
My last game vs BG was in Oxford in 2017 when we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with BG’s 99 yard fumble return TD.
Airline tickets to Detroit on Thanksgiving are $500.
Go get a win for me!
Fog
Mud
Tornado delays
The BG game has had just about everything over the last couple of decades. But we haven’t had snow, so we might as well as that to the list.
Some Old Testament shit like a plague of locust descending on Doyt and eating the field turf would be cool.
Let’s wear our Ice White combo so they can’t find us in the snow.
