If I’m not mistaken, this is the first time we’re ending the regular season with a Saturday home game since… 2002 vs. UCF.
The only time BSU “won” that trophy is when Chuck pulled starters in the 2nd half to make sure everyone would be good to go for the 2019 MACC.
When we beat Ball State, what are the scenarios that need to happen for us NOT to be in the MACC?

We need to avoid being only tied with Toledo or only tied with Ohio. I think we are good in all or at least most other scenarios.

My back of the napkin morning math:
These scenarios all assume WMU ends up 1 loss so they are in and not involved:
If we end up tied with UT and OU: no head to head as UT didn’t play OU, so we go through on common opponent WMU (we won, they both lost)
If we end up tied with CMU and OU: no head to head as we didn’t play CMU, so we go through on common opponent WMU (we won, they both lost)
If we end up tied with CMU and UT: no head to head as we didn’t play CMU, so again we go through on common opponent WMU (we won, they both lost). EDIT: Actually I don’t think UT and CMU can end up tied with us at this point unless its a 5-3 mess, so this one doesn’t matter.
If we end up tied with just CMU: no head to head as we didn’t play each other, so we go through on common opponents as we are 2-1 vs Akron, Toledo, and WMU and they would be 1-2 vs Akron, Toledo and WMU as they’d have beaten Toledo in this scenario to be in a head to head tie with us.
If we end up tied with only UT: they go on head to head
If we end up tied with only OU: they go on head to head
Now, if WMU loses, I still think we end up in very good shape in all/most ties. Our strength of schedule in conference is good with no UMass and no Bowling Green. We played a lot of the teams in this 6-2 mess as well, so any 4 team tie where common opponents fall apart as there just won’t be common opponents among 4 teams will favor us.
