Maybe we should have campus wide and branch campuses wide open tryouts for pitchers - what is our team ERA and where do we rank among all D 1 teams in that category?
Team ERA is 8.20 which is good enough for 246th out of 295 teams

If you mean have an ERA of 4 for the rest of the season, that would be a reasonable goal. Lowering our season ERA to 4 would be almost impossible at this point.

As I’ve been saying all along, we’re not going to be a winning baseball program until we can maintain an ERA under 5. To be a dominant program we’ve got to get it down to about 4. Those are goals. It’s obviously not going to morph from 8 to 4 this season, nor is it likely this staff will turn in an ERA of anywhere close to 4 the rest of this season. We’re a work in progress.

Byers has good numbers. He walks too many hitters but he has pitched well.
