Aveon Smith's new school

So I have a friend who does volunteer work at the HS Aveon attended. He emailed me that he had emailed back and forth with Aveon and he is going to Limestone University. He also has the goal of being a HS football coach.

So I looked up Limestone. The Saints are located in Gaffney South Carolina and play in the South Atlantic Conference which is NCAA DII. They were 8-3 last season. I saw that Virginia Wise is in their league and remembered that we had a basketball guard from that school last year and he went back their for his final year.

Limestone University is a rock-solid school.

It certainly provides students with a good foundation.

Come on Bash, limestone is not all that solid.

Brad Dean. Did not know he returned to Virginia Wise.

If it’s solid enough for the pyramids of Giza, it’s solid enough for an institution of higher learning.

Just when I think I am a pretty good armchair expert on college football, you guys come up w a school I have never heard of.

If my Miami education is remembered correctly, the pyramid blocks are made of a conglomerate of things including limestone and granite.
The interiors finished with a plaster like substance also made of limestone dust. I spent my college summers working at a lime plant. Good money, history of lime not included.

I watched the NCAA D3 championship, and man, those quarterbacks from Mt. Union and North Central were pretty darned good. I wouldn’t necessarily see Aveon starting over those guys if accurate passing was the qualifier.

Good luck to Aveon at Limestone. Hope they’re playing for all the marbles!

Wish him well, and some playing time for his sake. As I’ve said many times I think he could be a good starter on a run-heavy offense, and QB standards for DII aren’t the same as FBS/FCS.

And don’t forget the water tower (from house of cards fame):

They play in the same conference as Catawba, Barton and Lenoir-Rhyne. It’s the school where Gaylord Perry jump started their baseball program. Gafney is the site of the giant peach water tank that looks like a butt crack - featured in House of Cards.

Yep!

All joking aside, with Aveon’s exposure to three different college programs/coaching staffs, he’s going to be well equipped to be a successful HS coach. Hopefully it will pay dividends in terms of future recruiting for Miami.
