Attendance woes

I don’t hate the idea of playing a game in downtown Cincy (or Cleveland, or Columbus, etc.), but we’re already scheduled to play UC at Paycor on 2026 so the soonest I see this happening would be 2028 likely?

The admin has done a good job of building relationship with FCC through the Berding and Farmer ties. Beneficial in many ways :money_bag:

Not good

Fans can purchase drinks including beer for $3 prior to the start of the game, I believe this is for all Miami sporting events.

I thought I also saw something on social media about Brickstreet handing out cards that allowed students attending the football game to receive beat the clock pricing later in the day.

This shouldn’t be a secret. This information needs to be everywhere including dorms and bars.

It’s on the Gameday Central page of the website. Not sure where else it’s been promoted but I don’t feel like it’s a state secret. Dorms are overwhelmingly under age so promoting beer specials to those kids seems like a waste of resources. I’m sure Brickstreet promoted their deal but I don’t think other bars are going to be excited about driving away patrons.

What we are ahead of Akron. What more could you want? We are averaging almost 10K a home crowd. That is terrific.

A game at FC Cincinnati is in discussion

Is this total including away games? I have a hard time believing CMU is averaging close to 24K with their three home games being Wagner, EMU, and UMASS

CMU reported 18787 for Wagner, 20489 for UMass, and 28605 for EMU. No idea if thats bullshit or not.

Also reported attendance is extremely skewed. We’ve had games with similar butts in the seats at the EMU game but we said 15K were there, plenty of other MAC and FBS programs fudge the numbers (likely stemming from the defunct attendance thresholds).

This average doesnt include our 18k game.

We have had 4 home games so far. Total attendance, per Miami’s Athletic website, PDF, statistics page: 47,986. Divide that by 4 and we are averaging 11,997, at home.

Per game:

UNLV 12,625

Lindenwood 10,504

EMU 6832

WMU 18,025

That might be close to the worst average attendance at MU in the past 1/2 century. Yikes!

Keep winning and create some OOC upsets and this can change. We need to win the OOC games to create the big hype going into the conference season and this is where we have seemed to have failed.

Seems pretty plausible

I don’t know if it was said, but earlier in the thread it was mentioned reaching out to area alumni. I was on the Cincinnati chapter board about 15 years ago. We were told that the Alumni Association and the Athletic Department rarely work together as they view the other as a rival for donations.

We’ve noticed lately a lot of band parents being season ticket holders around us, so yes bringing back band day probably would help.

Do they still have Red Carpet Days for high school students? Could they run that in conjunction with a football game and have discounted tickets for them and their family…

The landscape has dramatically changed in the last few years.

  1. NIL $$.
  2. .Players come and go quickly.
  3. Uptown Oxford is a huge distraction even 8am sat morning.
  4. The students all have a cell phone in their pocket to watch virtually any game any time any place.
  5. Promotions need to be set up as suggested above. Band Day,etc.
  6. Thank God for Chuck Martin. He deserves much more credit for what he’s accomplishing on the field!

Some may laugh at this but you know what is popular uptown on Saturday mornings? The farmer’s market. Now is it a far walk from the farmer’s market to Yager? No. But if you haven’t checked it out, next time you are in Oxford on a Saturday morning, go see how many students are there. It’s a lot.

Move the farmer’s market to the front of Millett on game days. Come for the organic bok choy and heirloom tomatoes, stay for the touchdowns and QB sacks.
