Attendance at UC game

I wont say anything additional about the game beyond that it was a more interesting than I expected-- nice to not get ran out of a game like this in first quarter/half.

However, watching the game, the crowd looked very sparse= especially for a Big 12 team. I know that this rivalry might be dead, but I would have thought that the end of such a long rivalry would enticed more local folks to attend. Maybe the weather was worse than it looked on tv.

I saw that the announced attendance was only 19k- with roughly 1/3 of TQL seats getting left open. Because of all of this, I was Just wondering everyone’s thoughts on the status of our local programs?

I’m going to write a longer post about my dismay about everything that game represented. But, the attendance was incredibly sad. A piss-poorly managed and grossly overpriced embarrassment.

College football games, for the most part, should be played in college stadiums.

Attendance was bad but the sun was brutal on the camera facing side pushing a lot of people to take empty seats in the shaded areas on the Miami end zone side.

I am looking forward to yanks longer post in the event but I never understood the allure of TQL

I think playing in the Bengals stadium would have been a lot more meaningful to the roster than an MLS stadium and the ticket prices never made sense to me

but I like the MAC title game in Ford Field. Empty seats dont bother me as much

The whole contract was stupid. UC got half the home games while Miami only got a quarter. They weren’t p4/5 when the contract was written. Games should’ve been evenly split

TQL is trying to get into regularly hosting college games and possibly a bowl so it was probably better financially for both schools on paper. Given the ticket sales I doubt if anyone made out very well. If priced correctly TQL would have been light years ahead of anything Paycor could offer. Neither school could ever dream of filling Paycor. Even with the attendance issues on Saturday TQL had energy and when UC gave their fans something to cheer for it was loud.

I’m not sure what you mean, the original contract was for 5 home game for each, and 3 at PBS. It ended up as 2 at Miami, 3 at UC and 3 at PBS/TQL with the 2020 cancellation being the only reason it wasn’t 3/3/3.

I think I recall something about the original contract moving the order of games in a way that was controversial but I can’t recall the details there

Nvm I found the original contract you are right. Covid made me think otherwise
